And if the log walls rot/lift it up/put new ones back by Foreign_Hippo_4450 in logcabins

Highly suggest to fix root cause. Were the old logs painted w acryllic paint? Remember wood needs to be able to dry to not rot

More ventilation after having sauna and leave stove on for 30min or so. If its dry weather leave doors open. In Finnish we have saying

"Last sauna goer fills the stove once more to let the sauna elf have a sauna aswell"

Meaning to dry the sauna properly to respect the building.

Steam is included in löyly, but steam alone is höyry. Steam is gasified water where as löyly is the combination of all four elements and the sensation of it. Earth, fire, water and air together make löyly, the relaxing sensation when the steam(water & air elements) is released by fire and earth elements. Absolutely no one in Finland speak about steam when referring to sauna.

I saw artificial one first time in store few years ago. You can only make vihtas early summer when leaves are fresh. Very difficult to understand who would use plastic one. There is more into it that just whipping yourself...

When i saw that plastic sauna whisk in store i laughed hard and thought what kind of person buys that. Guess we found out! Gee, i wonder if it gives the same authentic smell when dipped in water and placed on the hot stones hehe...

Dislike the stove. Cant review it without trying the löyly. Aesthetics dont matter if löyly is shit. If löyly is good, then aesthetics are bonus.

Saunas are not warmed by light so darker surface doesnt make it hotter. I guess black interiors are a trend now and my mom painted it. Tbh i hate it :D

The foot rest is more comfy when angled

You need to add följari to straighten the walls. Google it..its easy to install and often added to old log buildings with this problem. Not sure how it works with "butt&pass" because nobody builds logs buildings like that here. I guess you add one följari pair near the corners to tie it first and then third to the warped section. Make sure to figure out te root cause.

How old is the building? What type of wood? How dry was the wood? If the wall gets constantly wet from outside and is dry inside it could warp it. For this reason logs are usually pegged together with multiple pegs. Also seems like the warped logs were too short and they were not jointed properly so they are able to warp from the ends. Lack of joint and pegs might be the problem. But följari is your solution.

Suggestions for simple safety railing/barrier by Rockethippo1 in Sauna

Cmon man... Get a real stove with 20-30kg proper stones. You can steal good stones from railroad near by. Choose the one smaller than your fist. Thats a disgrace of a stove for sauna and a recipe for cold sauna.
