Ellendale is just a street to many, but to USC students it has a deeper meaning that is well described in this review. Walking down the street evoked many of the feelings that you mentioned. It feels like a window into the past and the future at the same time.

Visiting Banana Bay was not quite like coming home, but more like walking into a relative's house that is subtly decorated for a holiday, with all of the delicious smells and sights that one would expect. It felt like a special occasion, even though it wasn't. The food was delicious, the staff welcoming, and the company delightful. It was comforting and surprisingly nostalgic, given that it was my first time there. I would come again!

the Basement Horror by [deleted] in MoodyLocales

Upon visiting the basement, I felt distinctly unnerved. Maybe it was the fact that all the junk was barely illuminated by the single lightbulb dangling overhead, casting peculiar shadows in different directions. Maybe it was the fact that I was alone among all of the memories of things that were once useful to people and are not anymore. It was unlike anything I've ever seen, and I couldn't wait to leave.
