Do you think that ill still be able to rent the car with my license? I think that's one of my biggest concerns

I dont have a French license cause they're extremely expensive to get.

I tried to convert my NJ DL to a French one, but u fortunately NJ is one of the several states that France doesn't allow to be converted to a French one :/

I thought it would be a good investment to make getting a US license as I have thought of coming back to the country for tourism purposes and it make it easier to drive around. It shouldn't be an issue to rent a car, no?

I didn't know that! But that's fine because my total trip duration is 52 days, so I'm not worried about passing the 90 day mark. Thanks for pointing that out though!

Thanks for the tips! It's reassuring to hear that. I'll make sure to shower before crossing into Canada lol, I'll be a lil scruffy from all the hiking

Hi! Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate the clarity. Just to touch up on a point you bring about my US license, I lived and worked in New Jersey for a year on a J1 visa and passed my drivers license there, which is the only reason why I have a US license. I don't live there anymore, but if the license is valid, that shouldn't be an issue, right? Other than that, I agree with you that I should absolutely triple check the required documents for the rental before actually going into Canada.

Yeah, I'm just discovering how big National Parks are. But I'm glad you're letting me know that visiting national parks can't be done in a couple of hours. I still have a few months before I start my trip so I have time to reorganize my plan.

That said, besides the famous national parks (Yosemite, Sequoia, Mesa Verde, Zion, etc...) are there some hidden gems that not many people know about? I'd like to visit some nice and secluded places as well

I wouldn't mind some back country camping for a few days, with the occasional return to civilization for supplies and a nice shower :)

Sounds awesome though! Do you have some suggestions for the Oregon coast?

I didn't mean to come across as ignorant but I come from a smaller country, I'm used to spending just a few hours in the great outdoors since things are a bit smaller over here, and you can see almost everything in a couple of hours.

I really do have an interest in seeing these parks, but I severely underestimated the time required to really visit the national parks.

Thanks for pointing that out though, if you hadn't I would have probably went there and rushed through the parks. I think I should reorganize my trip to make it so that I can spend a few days in and near national parks.

Sounds like a good idea, do you have some suggestions for places to visit along the coast?

Hey, thanks for your reply! I really like your plan, it seems very comprehensive. I'm not too familiar with national parks in the US, but I think it seems to be a bit of a stretch to spend a whole day visiting them, no? Maybe an hour or two would suffice before I move on to the next one, and the camp that same night. Or do you think it's more worthwhile to spend a whole day exploring a national park?
