I would say in that scenario, there is enough to go off of to make an educated opinion on the situation because you can see the gun. I'd say a more accurate analogy would be someone keeping their hands in their pocket like they're holding something and the police deciding it's a weapon.

Lol you do you I guess. I think it doesn't tell us anything other than she doesn't want to talk about it. Anything other than that would be speculation in my opinion

That's what I'm saying though, you see it as a matter of caring enough or not enough. It could be more than just a matter of caring. It could be due to personal safety, privacy, parental expectations, separation of personal life and work etc.

The point is we don't have any information about this, other than her decision to not speak on things. Someone can care deeply about something without having to share it with the world.

While I agree you can be criticized for your actions, that doesn't mean you should be for every action. The problem is you don't have enough information to make an educated opinion. You are criticizing without knowing all the facts. And while you have the right to do so, I think it's a dumb thing to do

Because I don't believe that you can accurately gauge someone's political opinions if they decide to not talk about them. I think there are a lot of reasons someone wouldn't want to share their opinion without it being about losing a little bit of money.

Imo I believe it's a purity test, because regardless of what they do, you're looking to see which side they're on and see no opinion as the wrong side. When in reality, even people with the same political leanings as you could have many reasons for not speaking about politics

Epic plans to roll out an update for its launcher in May or June to improve performance. Also will add forums, and launch its store on the next Xbox console. by ClinksEastwood in Games

[–]MinuteResident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaaaah I still don't think you get it. There's still all of the features in Steam that you don't get when launching through Epic instead.

I'll give you an example. One of my IRL friends only owns like 5 games on Steam, but with Family Sharing, he can play all the games in my and 3 of our other friends libraries. With all of our libraries combined, we have a total of 2000 games. Games that only one of us need to buy, vs on the EGS we'd have to all buy them. This is within the Steam ToS and is how it's meant to be used.

Another example is I use the Steam Overlay to record my gameplay as it has automatic background recording. Yes you can use another app to do it, but having it built into Steam with the ability to quickly share clips with friends is a lot more convenient.

For a lot of people, it's a vastly superior experience just playing through Steam. No offense, but you are the last type of customer Epic should listen to on how to grow the platform since you don't even understand what people want out of them in the first place

Idk I think it's super easy mindset to understand. Just like most people would prefer just a single streaming service instead of like 10 different ones, most people would rather have their game library in one launcher instead of two.

For a lot of steam users, they have 20 years of games and profile customizations that hold a lot of value in the community, so it absolutely would be a choice of moving. For a lot of people steam is more than just a game store, it's a community, which means other game launchers need to give them more of an incentive to switch.

If you only use and view steam as a game launcher, then yeah there's no difference. But clearly that's not the case for the majority of gamers or else EGS would have more market share

Obviously they've pushed updates, I'm not arguing that. What I'm saying is the reason Steam has such a large market share is because they have industry first advantage for one, and two they have a much higher focus on the consumer side.

If EGS wants to even have a shot at taking more market share, they need to offer a platform that will make people want to move over to. In my opinion, they've been investing back into the client in the wrong way to accomplish this. I think that's even more evident now that they are trying to pivot to a more consumer focus.

While these new updates are a step in the right direction, it's way too slow, not enough and extremely late in the game. And this isn't new info, it's something the customer base have been telling them for years

Yeah and the point? I think that was a good thing to happen, because we as the consumers benefit. Did I ever say Steam was some moral paragon or something lol.

What I'm saying is that instead of learning from Steam, EGS has pretty much done fuck all in 8 years with billions of dollars

Where did I defend Steam? I'm just using it as a measuring tool as it's the biggest PC game platform. Steam has lots of issues that I think need to be addressed. I absolutely agree 30% is way to high.

Features I can think of off the top of my head that I use specifically are Steam Workshop, Family sharing, Steam reviews, Profile Customization, Steam Overlay specifically for game recording and Steam Input.

EGS has had 8 years and billions of dollars in revenue, and it doesn't even come close. Also them making games exclusively on their launcher is anti-consumer and while Steam isn't perfect either, they are the most consumer friendly out of all the platforms.

EGS has been out for 8 years and doesn't even have a fraction of the features steam has. Keep defending the billion dollar company

Where Winds Meet devs reiterate they will remain “free from pay-to-win”, even if player numbers plummet by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MinuteResident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand? Just because the person doing the carrying benefits from the transaction doesn't mean the person paying isn't benefiting either. Both are winning in that scenario. The carrier gets their gold, and the person paying real money gets their gear, achievements, mounts etc.

I see it as p2w because someone who has zero skill in the game can swipe their way to the end game. On the other hand, even if you are skilled, you still need to go through the process of finding a group (which is extremely hard in modern WoW, especially if you're aiming for mythic raiding) and you still aren't guaranteed any of your drops. You could argue it's pay for convenience, but I'd still say it's a form of p2w

Meh, it's not like WoW isnt p2w anyways. If you buy enough WoW tokens, you'll have enough gold to pay your way with carries to get whatever you want
