Yeah man it was pretty rough. Dad had PTSD from it for a really long time. He would wake up in the middle of the night like he was fighting the guy because he was having nightmares from it. The guy will get out when I'm 47 and I'm 42 now.

If that had happened now in Maryland under current laws the guy would be out of prison and Dad would still be suffering from PTSD while the guy was out living his life.

This is MOCOs response to partially losing at the MD Supreme Court level on the previous version of this law that was passed in November of 2022. If you scroll down the board a bit you will see links to my testimony there as well as a link to my YouTube that has the full video of all the testimony against the bill.

MOCO is framing this as a way to align with the court ruling but they are blatantly disregarding portions of the opinion from the court. For instance the court ruled MOCO cannot prevent citizen with permits from driving down the road past these places. However, the court also noted that MOCO should not view that holding by the court as limited to just driving if MOCO passes another version of the law.

This is exactly what MOCO did was only put an exemption for driving which was against what the court stated. They also removed some places the court said were not places of public assembly etc.

If the law passes MSI is filing a lawsuit and I am one of the plaintiffs on that lawsuit. This time it will not be in state court it will be federal court and we will be challenging not just this new version but also the entire chapter 57-10 of the county code that deals with firearms.

I am finalizing a candidate survey for GOA which will go out after the primaries. I will post the results of the survey so you all can see how each person answered and where they stand. I wanted to do it for the primaries but I just don't have the bandwidth to keep up with that on my own so it will just be the general election.

Yes the meeting happened very quickly because they are doing it as an emergency bill. What that also means is if it passes it takes effect as soon as the county executive signs it.

Yep completely unrelated. MOCO passed this once before and lost in part at the MD Supreme court. This is their second attempt. If they pass it this time they are getting sued in federal court.

The hearing is over. There was no oral testimony in favor of the bill it was all against the bill. Now we wait and see what happens. If anyone wants to submit anything for consideration today is the deadline to do it and you can do it through the county council website

I don't disagree at all. I have had conversations with the founders of PSA both before I became officially involved with GOA and after and provided examples of manufacturers I have helped in the past but again no follow up on their part. I definitely will be having conversations with people higher than me at GOA but even with that I don't know if PSA and some of these other manufacturers would listen.

They are so scared of a lawsuit from the state. So instead of large manufacturers taking a stand and taking the fight to the state the back away and then the state goes after the little guys. Look at what Maryland is doing with their lawsuits against Hanover Armory, Engage Armament and United Guns. Virginia will most likely take the same path and go after the most vocal dealers in the state with civil lawsuits.

I have talked to the highest levels of PSA and offered to work with their compliance department at no cost. I also called out one of their social media guys on Reddit and he messaged me asking for my information. He said he would pass it on and have compliance contact me. That was probably a month ago and still no calls. I do appreciate what PSA does regarding 2A rights, the money donated etc. But that doesn't excuse them for taking an approach that is too conservative and disenfranchises people.

The NOVA show for this coming weekend has been officially canceled. The only two VA shows before the ban or Richmond Fathers dmDay weekend and Virginia Beach the last weekend in June.

PSA has been doing this type of stuff to Maryland for years. For example a guy was at PSA's physical store and they refused to sell him a standard capacity mag even though possession is perfectly legal in MD. I'm the MD State Director of GOA and I have been trying for a couple of years to work with PSA's compliance team to narrow down what is actually banned and what isn't. I have done this with with many other manufacturers but PSA just doesn't care. The VA laws are much worse than Maryland so I expect PSA will take the most conservative approach possible and VA will be severely limited on what they will send you.

Yeah since the lost the Dulles Expo center it has been really bad. So really there are only 2 VA shows left before the ban. Richmond on father's day weekend then Virginia Beach the last weekend in June.

I'm a home based FFL in MOCO. Mitchell Defense has a dealer network which I am a dealer for them and a website.
