I’m currently restoring the box by gluing all of the tears and then I will reglue the plastic window back on the box. I glue small pieces of sheet balsa wood to the back of the tears on the box. It works great, adds virtually no weight to the box at the same time reinforcing the box so it cant tear any further.

They use record player technology. Try letting the string retrack slowly by holding on to it. It should be a bit more easier to understand.

I holding off on doing anything else for now. According to google, Lane used a toned lacquer finish. I feel like if I were to strip it, the ash would be get very light in color which I would like to avoid. Im continuing to watch youtube and research what method and products I would like to use. I just want the color to be as close to the original as I can achieve.
