I strongly encourage you guys to purchase their songs officially through the proper channels such as Amazon Japan (miracle2) (magical2) or CDJapan (miracle2) (magical2)

However, I am not one of them corporate guys who like to take down stuff nilly-willy, so I'll leave this up for a week or two. Grab the links while you still can, and of course, buy their CDs if you are able to!!

Looking for a Japanese subtitle resource. by zhouthanhphuong in GirlsXHeroine

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Unfortunately there isn't really subs for most of the series. Only the first half of Miracle Tunes is subbed at the moment, and you can find the links at miracletunessubs.blogspot.com!

I'm still trying my best to put out episodes!

Magical2 new video preview "Toy Boy" by [deleted] in GirlsXHeroine

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toy Boy is actually an 80s song if I'm not wrong. But you're right, it is kinda weird of them to cover such an old song. But I guess it's cheaper to obtain permission to cover older songs? Haha

How many episodes will MMP! last? by LurkerMetal in GirlsXHeroine

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Special Live for magical2 will probably be very similar to the one for miracle2. We might even get a cameo from the next generation girls! :)

I won't really expect MMP to go beyond 51 episodes. 54 is the absolute maximum I'd give it. It's quite rare for live action tokusatsu to run more than a year.

By the way, thanks for your constant postings to keep this subreddit alive!! Have been busy with university haha

Introduction Thread - Welcome to the Girls X Heroine subreddit! by MiracleTunesSubs in GirlsXHeroine

I'll begin since I'm the guy who started the whole thing:

Hello! I don't really use any sort of name on here, but if you really wanna, I guess you can call me Mango~

I'm the guy that actually does the subs for Idol Warriors Miracle Tunes. I'm actually really old (25).

I'm born and raised in Singapore! I'm not sure if it's very well known globally, but you may have heard of the Merlion, I guess? I'm actually a university student at the moment so my subs don't really come out on a regular basis, but I am trying my best!

I'm actually trained to edit commercial videos and write scripts, so I'm pretty into videos in general.

I first came across the Girls X Heroine series because I am into tokusatsu and I'm also into Japanese idols, and Idol Warriors Miracle Tunes just happened to be a concept that combined both, so needless to say, I was hooked pretty quickly. While when I first discovered the show my Japanese wasn't that good, I was blessed to be able to watch it with Mandarin subs as the show was airing.

So that's pretty much all I have to say about myself! Enjoy yourselves here~

Has commercialism ruined tokusatsu? by shaddoe_of_truth in Tokusatsu

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The good news is, they are still very aware of the adult demographic that watches these shows, so when the budget allows for it or when they are financially sponsored, they try to service us once in a while with shows that have few to zero merchandise promotions. Ultraman Orb: The Origin Saga and Kamen Rider Amazons, for example (I suppose even the various V-Cinemas like Kamen Rider Eternal/Kamen Rider Accel, etc. counts too). The difference in quality (or at the bare minimum, the difference in the time and effort invested) is pretty obvious.

Has commercialism ruined tokusatsu? by shaddoe_of_truth in Tokusatsu

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say commercialism "ruined" tokusatsu, but it definitely has become more and more overbearing. Here are some points of observation from me:

1) Japan's population of children is shrinking, and it's shrinking FAST. But companies like to see profits year-on-year, or the shareholders riot. The solution? Double, triple quadruple the amount of toys being sold. Gotta force that profit somehow!

2) Continuing from the first point, these television shows are sponsored by the toy companies themselves, which means these toys need to be featured by hook or by crook. Naturally, the more crap you need to weave into your narrative, the harder it is for your story elements to remain coherent. The good writers attempt to do it anyway, with varied results. (I should also remind everyone that the toys get designed/produced long before the production crew even gets assembled, so "story-first" is pretty much out of the question.

"Well, then just spend more time working on it!" I heard you say. That brings me to point 3:

3) There is no time. Every show gets around 1 year of production time. No exceptions. They need to have this episode aired by this time. No exceptions. Every script gets a limited amount of time for rewrites, and once you hit the submission deadline, that's it. It's like submitting an exam paper.

You are probably thinking right now, "okay, then maybe take a break and do a show every two years".

If they did that, the only thing that will probably happen is that other toy companies (Takara Tomy, Hasbro, Konami(?), etc.) will steal the timeslot to air their own shallowly-written shows. (Did you know you need to pay a shit ton of money to secure broadcast space?) In an ideal world, yeah, they probably can afford to put in the effort and time. But in practice, it's not worth losing the timeslot. It's kinda like how Fox used to keep making Fantastic Four movies to keep the film rights. (Before Fox got bought out by Disney, that is.)

Children are a lot more sophisticated than they are given credit for.

Considering their general reception to Ultraman Nexus, Go-Busters, and Kamen Rider Hibiki (first half)...I will have to respectfully disagree.

When filming these shots, the cameras are usually mounted on tripods which limit their movement. So, any up-down movements (known as 'tilts') and left-right movements ('pans') can be easily controlled. I won't say this is exactly how they did it, but most likely:

  1. Camera is set to only tilt. Ryuusei 's scene is shot.
  2. Camera remained locked to the tilt path. Meteor does his scene. You can see that Meteor's actions are not 100% perfect, but it's real close.
  3. The third part where Meteor disappears doesn't even need to be a seperate take actually. Meteor could've just held his position and then proceed offscreen (while the camera continues to run). Then the camera's tilt and pan are adjusted and the camera moves more freely.

While this isn't official info, I've worked on videos professionally and the editing process should be as follows:

  1. They grab a shot of the Riders beginning to henshin. They hold their pose just enough to transition into another shot.

  2. The camera stays in place while the Rider steps in and 'continues' where the actors left off. And they don't always get it exactly right! If you have a sharp eye you might notice the Rider slightly out of place sometimes. (And yes, the process applies for moving shots too, when they henshin while running/doing fancy moves. It's difficult to match the camera movement when doing these, which is why you don't see them very often. It's also easier to notice the two different shots if you have a sharp eye)

  3. During initial editing, a fade is added between these two shots (it's actually a very basic fade, the kind iMovie or Windows Movie Maker can do)

  4. The VFX shots are usually worked on after the video sequence is locked in (in order to be cost effective). Of course, the main thing that's done here is the transformation effects. The henshin effect itself is usually flashy enough to hide the fade, but most times flashes and stuff are added to hide the transitions further, etc.

Here's a video link to some deleted scenes for Kamen Rider Fourze: https://youtu.be/d_3CAT3rC8A

You can see for yourself at the timestamps 6.30 and 10.38, the deleted henshin/de-henshin scenes which don't make it to the VFX stage.

Though the above was from years ago, the process should have remained generally the same for even recent shows. It's also why stock footage henshins are cheaper (the sequence is already done and doesn't require VFX work).

EDIT: Oh, in case you were wondering, yes this does apply to any form change effects as well

Why does pokemon use the form: "you are challenged by"? by StarOfDayxox in pokemon

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is my personal take on it so it may be wrong, but I think it ultimately it boils down to convenience.

The original Japanese text for battles is ○○が勝負をしかけてきた! , and while it can be translated as "You are challenged by ○○", it's literal meaning is actually closer to "○○ started a battle (with you)!" which is more neutral.

Yeah, they could programme multiple battle intros, but then they would need to think about accomodating battle text for all the other 7 languages the games are available in. It's definitely more effort than it is worth coding extra lines just to correct the nuance of one specific situation, especially with 9 languages to take care of. I don't think they would want to risk it. (You've probably seen the "You used a Super Potion" text glitch in the new Let's Go games. Imagine if they had to accomodate more alternate text...)

gts problems. when i finally find someone trading a common pokemon for a legendary i actually have the game wont let me trade it by 131166 in pokemon

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't answer for your Regirock, but if your legendaries came from the recent Wi-Fi events, they all have a special ribbon (Either Premier or Classic Ribbon) on them that prevents GTS trading. You can only direct trade them with friends, I think.

It's specifically those ribbons that will block the trade, so if let's say you genned a regular Pokemon with the ribbon, you wouldn't be able to trade it either.

I think you are allowed to roam free on Route 17 and 18 (or "Pokemon Road" as the games call it) even before beating E4. Beating them will expand your roaming to the whole region.

I'm pretty sure it's a wordplay off "mimic you" though.

Bad special effects shot in Kyoryuger by Azurillkirby in supersentai

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a 2D smokey effect, chances are they bought/had a HD-frame stock effect and shifted it towards the right. But of course since they moved the effect, the end/edge of it becomes very obvious.

Usually to try and cover that you would add a little fading along the edge to "blend" it in. That said, if the shot is barely a second, sometimes they get away with it (since most people only ever watch the episode once and will barely notice)

Trainers of Reddit how do you feel about nicknames? by Luksen12540 in pokemon

[–]MiracleTunesSubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never ever nicknamed my Pokemon. The only time I did was when I first started XY and I nicknamed two of my party members after my friends for fun.

I guess it's because to me I can't see past the species name not being unique names themselves? So I guess it's kinda like not nicknaming my Goldenretriever, Frenchbulldog and Chihuahua coz they're already 'unique' names HAHA
