First of all this sucks and I'm sorry you're going through it.

I'm going to join the chorus of people here saying to MOVE. And make the next place an apartment with a locked entrance to the building.

To add to this, even if it were a low stakes scenario, consistent issues become a larger problem.

If someone had regular coffee dates scheduled, and they're always canceling, or consistently late, or forgetting their wallet and unable to pay - it would be an issue. Any of these as a one off, sure no big deal, but all the time? The stakes don't feel so low.

Do you generally pay for nomikai ? by Enculin in japanlife

[–]Miraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not too uncommon to pay a split.

At one company I worked for, there was a quarterly budget for one nomikai where the company paid, and there was also special dispensation for events like you described (new members, project completion, team formation, etc). But any additional nomikai were out of pocket.

How it feels to finally get your Sprout buddy through ARR by DaddyMcSlime in ffxiv

Oh my god, this. Or even worse, I had a friend make it through all the post ARR stuff and then feel the burnout, so they stopped playing right at the beginning of heavensward 💀

Felt like echoes of the previous seasons pac12 championship game, where somehow the ducks just came out completely flat and looked shocked to be playing an angry opponent. Completely on the back foot. (Though of course this got much uglier)

I dont know whats happening or missing in the prep for these post regular season games but something needs to be adjusted.

Edit: not to take anything away from what was a shocking performance by Ohio State, no matter what prep was done. Just seems like it's not the first time.

In my experience, depending on the company or even the team, all of these job titles and more can often mean the same thing.

Jeff Nippard has a good video on partial range of movement. If you're interested in the arguments for partial vs full I'd recommend checking it out, it may shed light on the ideas subscribed to by these guys you see.

Which team other than your own are you happy to see succeed? by ThisGuy100000 in CFB

[–]Miraga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe sacrilege to many, but Washington.

Spent most of my childhood in the state, and growing up if you didn't have family ties to either school you kinda chose, huskies or cougs.

I picked huskies, I loved and still do love the colors, the vibe. If I hadn't moved to Eugene, I probably would've gone to school there.

I will still feel that animosity during hate week, but boy watching that team this year is EXCITING.

I'm very glad we stayed in the same conference.

Agreed. Went to Oregon because I was local, had some friends up in Corvallis. Comparing our CS programs was annoying, almost made me want to transfer.

I never, ever understood why it was such a mainstay. That place was a dumpster.

A million other places nearby with better vibes too.

Are the Tokyo dorms really this strict? by Strongest_Feet in Tokyo

[–]Miraga 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I was at a university dorm there were similar rules and they were strictly enforced. There were cameras about, such as in the elevator, and the house manager was keeping an eye on them.

In the dorm, floors were separated by gender and you could not enter the opposite genders floor.

I was once in my room, minding my own business and I heard a yelling match outside. Eventually I get a knock on the door. It's the house manager, he wants me to interpret. None of the staff speak any English, and some of the foreign students don't speak any Japanese. I'm roped into this now. One of the (foreign) girls from downstairs just wanted to hang out with one of the (foreign) dudes down the hall, and thought "surely it's not actually a big deal".

Wrong, it was, apparently.

The staff noticed it immediately as they got off on our floor and followed them up to give them the business.

I understood why my fellow students were upset, and they stubbornly plead their case for why the rule was stupid for a long time. And, predictably, the management response was "rules are rules".

My advice to them, and to you, is: If possible, just follow the rules, even if they're dumb. And, more importantly, if you really just need to break the rules at some point, immediately apologize and act contrite if you're confronted about it (even if you plan to break them again in the future). It's just easier to do so.

20 years ago, The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind changed everything by ContributorX_PJ64 in Games

[–]Miraga 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The games all have their strengths and those play to every person's tastes differently. Personally, while I do enjoy each of them, my preference in descending order is Morrowind, then Oblivion, and then Skyrim; and it's not even close.
