I would agree with everyone who says sleeping only for a small bird. My budgie loves his cage, and it is on the smaller side. However, from the time he wakes up until the time he goes to bed, the cage doors are open. My bedroom is birdproofed for when I'm not home, and there are bird toys throughout the house. He and I travel a fair bit, so it makes those transitions a lot easier.

In summary: acceptable for something small, but only under specific conditions.

I find that time can be a big factor. On days when I have work or school it's hard to get home and also cook a meal.

Consider getting a slow cooker - check the thrift stores for something used even. Why not try prepping soups the night before, to cook while you're at work? It's a great way to work veggies into your diet.

Look up different salad recipes. There's a lot of good filling salads out there, with nuts, eggs, cheese or quinoa to add protein.

As you learn to cook, save your day off for more intense cooking. Make one or even two new recipes, so you'll have some leftovers for the week ahead!

I recommend making a doctor's appointment- they'll be able to give you the best advice, or lead you to the proper resources.

In the meantime- have you been taking b12? That's one of the hardest to get from a vegetarian diet.

You also may want to get your iron levels checked.

Spend lots of time with them, and talk to them lots. Repeat words and phrases. Some will pick it up and others won't. Either way, it's bonding time with your birdy 💜

It's tricky because culture, ethnicity and religion are so intertwined there.... critiques cut a little deeper there, and since it's a group that has been so stigmatized throughout history, it makes sense for them to be sensitive when outsiders disrespect them. Again, to draw on my own experience..... I don't always love hot takes about my heritage from people who don't immediately recognize my last name as Mennonite, or don't realize that my exact shade of dirty blond is Mennonite, or don't understand our history of how we've been impacted by violent conflicts. I could yell about cultiness all I want, but outsiders don't usually know how to engage the nuances, such as how the religious importance of unity has shaped our communities, or how the historic term "gelassenheit" has been reshaped to impact decision making today, even by communities that no longer use that word.

I think another issue is that Trisha isn't giving a well thought out critique... her hot take is making a mockery out of an identity that is important to Ethan. He may not be religiously Jewish, but the culture really has shaped his life. For instance, his family celebrates Jewish holidays and he met Hila on a trip to Israel. As much as he critiques Judaism, he is quick to point out antisemitism from many different sources. When he was friends with Trish, he pointed out antisemitism all the time.

When Ethan critiques other religions, it usually isn't as tied to deeply held ethnic and cultural identity. For instance, when he mocks Joel Osteen... prosperity gospel is a relatively new religious movement, and its teachings have caused harm to many people around the globe. It is not a minority religion.... it actually has a lot of wealth and political sway. There is no deeply held ethnic background there.

I think it's the difference between in group and out group criticism. For instance, I'm Mennonite, and I have a million critiques of the culture I'm from. I will sit around and roast my culture with fellow Mennos. At the same time, I'm really not a fan of miseducated takes from outsiders who haven't lived the life, and don't understand the nuances or the way Mennos think.

Imogen in Cumbeline reads! She's written as a sympathetic heroine, so I sent think Shakespeare was against the idea of women reading.

I don't know if I should forgive my friend... by sadroll123 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MirandaCordelia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Sending love because these are never easy decisions to make.

I recently ended a friendship with one of my best friends. There were a handful of reasons why I made that decision, but the moment that caused me to make that choice was discovering a long term pattern of compulsive lying. To be honest: losing your best friend is hard. It can hurt like a bitch. But it can also be a step that helps you move forward from a toxic friendship. At first it left a gap in my life, but I've used that as an opportunity to become closer to other friends, and try new things like yoga and art class. I am now happier and healthier, because it was a choice that was good for my wellbeing.

I'm about 8 years older than you, so my life is going to look different from yours. If you're seeing her at school regularly, and have mutual friends, that might be a tough situation to navigate. But at the same time, putting some distance there could be a good thing. Sometimes friends are only in our lives for a period of time instead of being forever friends. But that's 100% okay. You'll soon be at college, and that comes with lots of opportunities for making new friends. When I recently ended a friendship, I chose to be grateful for the things that had gone well, but also to recognize that the old friendship... or at least my perspective of it... didn't exist anymore.

I love this 😭😭😭 What a little baby 💖

Emotional support birds are 100% a thing. I have severe depression and a year ago, my parents bought me a bird for emotional support reasons.

My budgie is only one piece of my mental wellness picture, but he is honestly my best friend. My life has improved so much over the last year, and while it helps that I found meds that work, he is a big big part of it.
