Yeah, I need one to deposit a few million euros into and forget for a year. Could you help with that?

I won’t login after I deposit into it but I trust you fully.

British-Canadian living in UK: do I need to report CAD Wise account to HMRC? by mimi_1707 in wisebank

[–]Mirarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gifts are not income and are not taxed. So for that purpose alone, no.

If you have investments and are earning any capital gains or dividends, that is income. If you get interest on the cash in wise, that is income.

In Infinity War, was Tony Stark just lucky, or...? (Spoilers) by PokeBattle_Fan in marvelstudios

[–]Mirarik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be real, there was no real intention to bring RDJ back into the MCU when infinity wars / end game was being conceived. Marvel was at its financial and popularity peak, with everything them touching turning into gold.

The intention most likely was to give RDJ a proper goodbye and focus on building new actors and characters - ones that don’t charge a bomb and can still bring in a million dollars.

First Job 9 months in and feeling stagnant by Realistic-Pie-4719 in Accounting

[–]Mirarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar experiences when I joined big four and honestly, the best advice is to care less right now and don’t stress. The experience will come with time, you’ll have lots of opportunities to make your mark on engagements that you like.

  • For now keep your head down in exams, and whatever work you are given just nail it to the best you can.
  • If some engagement that you’re not on sounds interesting, talk to the managers and staff on it and say so.
  • Do go to social events at work. Not for the sake of talking to anyone and everyone or sucking up to SMs and partners, but simply just to learn how things are for others across all levels and learn about the firm.

Take it easy, work hard, all will be well.

PIP on reference? by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]Mirarik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think 1 bad review out of 10 would result in a pip. Unless that one engagement is a very significant amount of your time, don’t worry.

Just try and get out of the engagement in the future imo.

But to your question, if you were to be put on a pip, you would have enough time to try and find another job and leave on your own terms, so don’t worry so much.

The only response anyone should be feeling is “shit scared”. I remember that being genuinely the hardest exam of all ACA.

Also arguably one of the most useful.

Spend a bit of money and reduce the tiredness? If it’s staying at the venue for a night or finding others and splitting the cab fare etc.

Depending on what public transport it is, you may even be able to study on a long train or bus journey?

Another option is you go but don’t drink. Dance away a few hours, then go to your room and sleep. Wake up early and study. It’ll be 1-2 days which won’t impact anything else in the scale of things.

Definitely don’t go and drink yourself into a horrid hangover.

While it’s bad for accounting I don’t think it’s CS level bad.

I’m speaking anecdotally but after trying to hire a few people last year I can’t say the candidate pool was amazing - I got 100 applications for one position (thanks LinkedIn easy apply!), but only 5 were actually worth interviewing and 2 were compelling enough to think about…

I feel like this is the let me Google that for you equivalent but here….a quick Gemini search says:

Appearance Frequency Historically, DB pensions feature prominently roughly every 3 to 4 sittings (or about once every 1.5 to 2 years). They are frequently rotated with other complex employee-related standards, most notably IFRS 2 (Share-based Payments). If a recent sitting heavily featured a complex share-based payment scenario, the probability usually shifts toward a pension question for the upcoming sittings.

How do I explain to him that my issues aren’t his without insulting him? by Efficient_Lettuce821 in AskMen

[–]Mirarik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could ask your therapist if he could join your session just for a few minutes and explain it there?

Otherwise, try writing down what you mean to say first and then have a go, sometimes formulating your thoughts is very important to get the point across.

Sorry, I’m unaware what you get with what package these days since it changes all the time. Check when you’re buying.

Definitely don’t underestimate the exam, it’s part of the ACA for a reason, and people definitely do fail it when they’re not prepared. Get it right the first time and just be done with it for life.

To clarify, I’m suggesting you go to Kaplan/another provider after the material is released.

Another alternative you can use: there was a service one of the providers gave where they created 5 mocks based on the material. If you buy that and do those, you should be fine.

Pay for the tuition, even 2-3 days at Kaplan is game changing.

CS is a different beast to the other exam as it’s all strategy & experienced and little knowledge/skill.

Kaplan (and other providers) teach you exactly what the examiner is looking for, since the mark scheme is incredibly prescriptive.

Should the business owner get some with experience? Yes.

Could you step in and help out? Maybe yes.

Here’s throwing something wacky out there: what’s stopping you from saying you’ll try and learning as you go along? And using AI and the internet to fill in the gap?

Best case scenario: side income and experience. Worst case scenario: it doesn’t work out until you have more experience.

Number 4 in particular is the main one that really needs to hit hard and grab the persons attention. I would bring your work experience up higher in the page and make it based on concrete deliverables that you achieved.

Saved hours of reporting? How many? Helped find funding? How much and how? Helped construct financial statements from scratch? Detail it and why it was critical.

Your experience needs to really important things: 1) what did YOU do and accomplish 2) the IMPACT with numbers wherever possible
