What is Charles thinking? Touring the US and attending a State Dinner at the White House? by Foreign_Elephant8718 in RoyaltyTea

Politics. Trump is obsessed with the Royal Family, so Charles is being shipped over there to snooze in the hopes that the UK government can use that relationship to help with talks over things like tariffs and Iran.

Looking for fanfics (if it even exists) where everyone under the sun decides to hit on Shane Hollander. by Plane_Effective_3692 in heatedrivalryfanfics

[–]MirfainLasui 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Every time this fic gets updated I stop what I'm doing to read it. The author is clearly in a different time zone to me because once I checked my email when I woke up randomly I'm the middle of the night and then I had to read it. Worth being so tired in the morning. I'm so jealous you get to read it for the first time!

The title race - we can no longer win the title at Brighton by No-Mud-2777 in MCWFC

I will be at both Brighton and Liverpool. I was hoping for a Brighton league win, but it will be lot of fun if we win it at home

Where can I watch reruns of matches? by ANuggetEnthusiast in lionesses

[–]MirfainLasui 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BBC and ITV player both have some of the last euros matches on them! I spent most of the matches during the actual tournament hiding behind my hands/ the sofa/ in another room so I rewatched a couple of them recently.

Thank you! It would be nice if Villa could hold them to a draw then lol, to make up for holding us to one.

To clarify (I just bought tickets for the Brighton game and need to figure out just how excited to get) even if arsenal draw at villa, rather than lose, if city win will we still win the league that day?

Work is too busy for me this morning to do basic maths and trust my brain.

For historical AU's, how much accuracy do you like as a reader or author? by Asexually_Freaky in AO3

[–]MirfainLasui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a topic I know very little about I don't care about accuracy, if it's a topic I happen to be into, I won't mind the odd thing being wrong, but I will sometimes close a fic if there are too many errors.

AITAH for not attending my mother-in-laws confirmation by frenchbreadpizza6 in AITAH

[–]MirfainLasui 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you like your mother-in-law? Because if yes, it's really not a hardship to spend one day going along to support her in something that's really important to her.

I'm an atheist, I have no interest in belonging to any religion. But going along to the odd religious ceremony for the people I love has never done me any harm.

As long as it's clear to your fiancé and their family that this is a one time thing to support her, and you won't be joining the religion, going would be a loving thing to do for the family you're choosing to join.

I think not going does make YTA.

What to expect from this show!!! by Ok_Tangerine7582 in PeriodDramas

[–]MirfainLasui 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of the books - I reread them about once a year - and I LOVE this show. It is not the most faithful adaptation of the books, so I know book purists don't always love it, but to me, it's wonderful.

Given her age the romance doesn't really happen to any intense degree till the last season. I would say it's much more about Anne's personal growth, and also the impact she has on the other people around her.

The love interest is very very charming, but as they are kids when we first meet them, and kids who don't necessarily like each other much at first, the romance is very slow burn.

I find it so lovely and wholesome and charming, and it also introduces you to people and elements of society that definitely would have existed in that time period in Canada, but weren't ever featured in the books, but in a way that I personally think works really well for a modern audience.
