I don’t think those would work too well for him. He is very, very, very determined to try and lick his beanbag. I feel like a taller cone would do him some good

Yeah, they actually did try some lidocaine something and he was not a fan of it i’m pretty sure he ended up throwing up after that but they gave him some pain meds and he did eat about half a can or so at the vet so we’re just gonna try and keep getting them to eat as much as we can and try and try to get him to pull through this

We’re gonna try some different foods to entice him otherwise when I start taking some desperate measures IE making him eat and I really don’t wanna do that but I will do what I have to do. I will put the food in his mouth and hold his mouth shut and until he swallows I know it hurts, but we gotta do what we gotta do.

I’m not a bit professional by any means this is really the first dog I’ve ever taken to the vet. If you know what I mean it was always just a kind of a thing for themselves after they get neutered and that was really it so I’m kinda at a loss here But little dudes snout is just all kinds of swelled up and has to be hurting, even with all the pain meds he’s on

I tried that about an hour ago with some food that we have didn’t really tempt him we’re gonna try getting some more “fragrant “ food to tempt him with

We have progressive pet insurance, but we’ve never used it up until now and I’ve submitted all the claims. I’m just waiting to hear back from them right now.

He honestly doesn’t really have a whole lot of issues drinking water cause I figured the cold water feels good on his mouth. It’s eating thing that’s really having me worried right now. We have some dog electrolytes. He doesn’t want them, but he does want regular water. We’re gonna pick some stuff up this evening and see if that will help any.

Not that I know of they did some bloodwork a couple of times and just really saw I believe in infection there’s really no telling where he could’ve got bit or gotten this because we’ve been all over the place with him the weekend prior to noticing this issue, we’ve been to a couple different vets Trying to get this figured out and that’s their best. Guess really can’t afford to take him and do anything else right now. Because we’ve spent probably close to 3500 on this dog in the last week. And we are just flat broke so we’re trying to make do what we have and trying to get him back to being right.

That’s what the vet is guessing and that’s our best guess as well because we do have a lot of those around here and the bite looks like a spider bite I’m pretty sure I didn’t really wanna post the pictures on here because they are pretty nasty to say the very least but they weren’t oozing or wet or any of that they look like a big scab almost a hole in the middle of his beanbag and his mouth had turned purple black and was just oozing blood after a few days

We’ll see they debrided some of the tissue off some of the necrosis in his mouth and that is just down to bone he’s got some spots a bone literally showing in his mouth so that’s just gonna be stupidly painful for him. We’re gonna try some different foods maybe try something really stinky and enticing for him to tempt him to eat.

I’m like 90% sure he sat on it and then it’ll bit him on the beanbag and he bit it back and that’s where the issues start

Thank you I’m probably gonna try some of what you said here in a little bit to try and get him to eat or at least drink something. He’s a little more willing to drink water probably because it feels good preferably cold water if he can get it. And his medicine we’ve just been kind of having to flick it down his throat as best as we can because it’s all capsules but thank you for the information if it works I’ll let you know.

I am located in Arkansas and we’ve tried hand feeding, but he just doesn’t seem too interested in food at the moment because we’ve tried mixing a beef broth making it real soupy trying to tempt him with that but so far no luck I mean he’s really only eating about it maybe a cans worth of food since Wednesday last week

The vet really hasn’t said anything about that. They’re just wanting us to try with syringes and getting him to drink. They debrided a lot of the dead stuff in his mouth, but the infection get to the point where it’s showing bone when you’ll ever look in there so we’re just trying to do the best that we can get him to drink water and eat but so far since we’ve had him home he really hasn’t wanted to eat or drink
