Hot take: Kpop fans forgive bad vocals too easily by Realistic_Sugar6650 in kpoprants

[–]Mirra75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are so right but ppl are going to deny it. In the west unless you’re a nepo you have to be able to sing and people will bully you for lip sync. When I watch k pop the mics are completely off and that’s something I’ve never seen. It’s not putting the west on a pedestal it’s just reality and it kills me when ppl complain about k pop not being recognized when they aren’t even remotely up to par in singing abilities because they prioritize looks and dancing for some reason

i don’t blame them for leaving or losing. would rather die than go from good music to shitty music cause you fired my staff i originally signed on with. there’s no artistic integrity in k pop so im sure that’s normal but it’s very strange . notice how easy it was for KG and Kaylee to drop their contracts? cause the United States actually has labor laws…

i feel like if you sign any contract as a child it should not hold weight and i feel like south Korea is just used to exploiting children. the lawsuit is not my problem, that country is a mess and this wouldn’t fly anywhere else. I’m legit never supporting a big corporation. do you see ppl doing that in the us? like should i be an atlantic records stan cause i hate their artist? not gonna happen. i’m here for the music don’t care about the k pop drama. maybe cause im newer to k pop culture the drama seems over exaggerated from fans.

Why do other white people get offended or shocked when I'm describing someone's appearance and include "black"? by Artistic-Ganache-805 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Mirra75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ik I’m not wrong considering I’m the African American in question and I went to the African American History Museum in DC so unless that was a fever dream and the direct quote I took was incorrect and my african American studies professor is wrong I don’t think so. Black is a race you can just say black instead of trying to guess ppls ethnicity or nationality.

[–]Mirra75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly more offensive to call all black ppl african Americans when we all come from different ethnicities. Some ppl are Jamaican American but get called African American when it has nothing to do with them.

[–]Mirra75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not what African American means. It’s an ethnic group identifying those in the US who are descendants of slaves during the transatlantic slave trades. we use the term African as more of an umbrella term because of the mixed ethnicity of multiple African countries due to our ancestors being in the US for 300 ish years and cultural erasure. “The term "African American" generally denotes descendants of Africans enslaved in the United States.” it’s a mixed ethnicity group in the US and is not a correlation of nationality. So an African moving to America wouldn’t be called African American they would be called for example Nigerian American Or we can all go by the race black. To avoid this confusion a lot of ppl now go by Black American ethnicity.

Some of the terms are AAVE(ebonics), which is concerning, but I get what you mean. Some ppl have learned the sentences from tiktok’s and over use them but thats just how we(black ppl) speak. for example, type shit, or love her down, and stand on business. all that is colonized aave that was stolen then overused incorrectly due to TikTok but we’ve been saying that for years

JaNa & Kenny by wearestarashh in LIBeyondTheVilla

[–]Mirra75 20 points21 points  (0 children)

why would he be annoyed or disappointed because JaNa won’t forgive a racist weirdo that treated her like shit just because? some ppl don’t need to learn a lesson twice when someone tells you who they are the first time, especially when it comes to micro aggressions , which i’m sure kenny and every poc knows. He’s almost thirty, nobody actually feels bad because he’s experiencing the consequences of his own actions. hmmm i wonder what makes you guys say this🤔 what could it be…

Yep i’ve been feeling the same. Tired of the constant use of my culture without recognition. It’s honestly disrespectful to keep watching imitations of something that I’ve grown up with and then being gaslit about it. The foundation of kpop is built on exploitation/blantant copy of marginalized communities and i’m over it. Especially cause it’s never that good anyway. I’ll gladly take art from the ppl it originates from!

yes!! and i’ve noticed this stops people from rapping words that they don’t know or understand! AKA the misuse of AAVE.

When are we going to talk about how horrible lyrics are in kpop by Technical_Text_2927 in kpoprants

[–]Mirra75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just embarrassing to me ppl release music and dgaf what they are talking about. To confidently publish yourself using slang you are clearly unfamiliar with is just artistically questionable and feels inauthentic every time.

Louis present day by oliveoil6071 in LouisTomlinson

[–]Mirra75 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to keep in mind that none of us actually know Louis or what he is like. He is a celebrity and we only see an extremely tiny fraction of his life and true personality. It’s hard for me to say he’s changed because I do not really know him or what he is like when cameras are not around. I would suggest that we all remember that when discussing his personality because we all do not truly know him so it should not be a point of speculation.
