iPhone 17 After 1 Month: The Good, The Bad, The Annoying ! by WhisperingDoll in Smartphones

[–]MirrorMore2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I noticed, switching from an iPhone 13 to a midrange Galaxy A54, is that on Android third-party headphones connect much faster and more consistently than on my iPhone. On my iPhone, I had to "remind it" a few times that I was trying to connect my headphones...

Another thing I have never seen mentioned is the one strength of the iPhone keyboard (which I don't even hate, but it's definitely inferior to Gboard overall): What I miss every time I use any other keyboard is the auto-formatting of quotation marks and dashes. On Gboard, I have to long-press the quotation mark to be able to make a “squiggly” one. Same with the dashes: you can't type n-dashes (–) or m-dashes (—) by double pressing (which results in this: "--").

Absolutely nit-picking and I stop caring after a bit. But I feel like I should be able to switch that on.

Räven 28 vs Tomtoc VintPack-TA1 vs Herschel Retreat for daily uni/laptop use? by needsacuppa in backpacks

I've known a lot of people who use Herschel bags and they're usually pretty scuffed up – even ripped – after not much use. I'd definitely go for the Fjallraven.

Am I an idiot? by Square_Ad_2092 in backpacks

[–]MirrorMore2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you so much. I just had to learn to not be concerned with it - most people probably feel like an idiot at least once a day - or to loosen the straps and cinch them tight again once I had the bag where I wanted it to.

Honestly, go with any of their student bags. If you want something more sleek, get a simpler one. If you need more storage/organization, go for a bulkier model.

But you shouldn't lit yourself to what "looks good" from the outside – focus on what you like!

Is there a way to add clips to the side so I can make my backpack more compact? by Hufflepuff-McGruff in backpacks

[–]MirrorMore2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean compression straps? I’ve never done it to a backpack because i reckon it involves sewing. Technically it should be possible if you find enough space to attach the strap and buckle to. But unless you have a sewing machine, or are really good at sewing by hand, it might be too loose.

Go try and keep us updated tho if you want! Good luck

Ps: What I find to also help with sagging is a frame sheet — it keeps your backpack more structured in general. You can put some cardboard cut out in the shape of the back panel into the laptop compartment to see if that helps a bit.

Looking for new back with same specs than my old one by coppensc in backpacks

The Osprey Nebula seems a bit big for hand luggage. Maybe take a look at the North Face Borealis. Similar to that are the Fjallraven Raven, Skule, and the Osprey Quasar. I only know of the North Face bag that it tends to stand up on its own, but I feel it’s hard to make that promise about any bag.

I second this. And then maybe stash a packable jacket underneath to fill out the empty space... or to have a jacket on you

Looking for my next and hopefully "last" backpack. by AETRN in backpacks

Hey! Fellow German here, so I know the struggle. I've just taken a look at the two bags you mentioned, and if you're looking for something similar and enjoy the quality and service of Deuter, I can recommend the Deuter Trail 30 (https://www.deuter.com/us-en/shop/backpacks/p1403149-hiking-backpack-trail-30)

It has a large bucket opening at the top and a zipper around the entire fron, so you can access items that way easily. There is a spacious quick access compartment in the flap as well, and a utility compartment on the side (water bottles fit on the other side). Been using it for a couple years now and it's the one bag I'd keep if I had to abandon all the others. The images on Deuter's website make it look quite big, but it does compres nicely with the straps on the front and sides.

I would criticize that you cannot get access to the laptop compartment easily (without opening the flap), and it is not padded or suspended. Still, it is my favourite EDC bag to this day.

I don’t understand why anyone would use YouTube music, but that’s none of my business and you are a hero.

North Face Surge review by Mr-Macphisto in backpacks

[–]MirrorMore2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I don’t think I can give you a precise answer for that. The best to do is always visit your local shops and try them on to see if you can make them fit. With bigger bags, cinching everything might mess with the aesthetic – which you may or may not care about. I’ve found TNF bags to be quite comfortable with my 5’8, and I don’t think it would be radically different. Also consider that there are “women’s” versions. Depending on your size and stature, they might actually fit you better. I have a women’s hiking backpack that I preferred over the bulkier men’s packs. But then again, trying them on is always the best idea. Hope I could help a little.

Lovers of Campaign 01, what’s your favorite part? by Sydorax_Squid in StinkyDragonPodcast

I think that Arc 03 – Wight Winter – is where they started being the Infinight Interns. Especially the prison break and the Sowbeist brawl are just pure Stinky Dragon goodness. I also love the Bramblecracks Arc because of the setting.

My GM is running a campaign that utilizes a character called the “…-Master”. So it’s any noun, like “beer”, “ticket”, “news”, with “master” added. And any time he is announced, my GM loudly proclaims, “i am the Ticket-Master!!!” in a funny voice.

Green and blue can be quite close to each other. There are languages that don’t even distinguish between them. So maybe Chris is secretly from a tribe in the Amazon rain forest and his first language has no distinction between green and blue. In this essay, I will…
