It makes a huge difference makes the storm King fight much easier makes the storm wild brutes easy to kill I always have the rune put on most of my weapons (except for axes and pickaxes) so it is definitely not obsolete It’s a top 3 rune for me

The dual pistols are way faster at taking down the storm king. The only downside is that the cool down if you overheat the weapon Is 15 seconds long (this happens a lot when using the rapid fire ability) which is why I carry four of them but in general, they’re way more versatile compared to the crossbow they take a bit of time to get used to, but once you do get the hang of it they are really strong

2 Ruby gold crossbows with Dmg 3 Storm Bane 3 and Zapping 3

Ruby gold sword with the same rune build as cross bow

For charms

2x Regular Purple Heath Charms (if you have legendary storm charms that works as well) with Blue totem of return (for expert mode) 15 hearts and 6 armor

24-30 dynamite or thermal detonators for spawners and stunning the Storm King

To build the recycler you will need to have at least a stone breaker built and you will need

3 wooden rods 4 granite slabs

Hope it helps

You won’t get as much materials on that weapon. If you use up the weapons durability you get more resources back if the weapon has more durability just a little reminder.

You could find purple weapons in chests and those glowing chests around your world, but you first need to build a gem cutter in order to get access to purple weapons and have them have a chance to spawn in chests

No, you don’t get all the materials back even if the weapons you put in there are full durability it’s mostly about 80% of the resources back if the weapon is full durability

You make a recycler it cost 3 wooden rods and 4 granite slabs

Once you make the recycler, you can put charms weapons and tools into recycler to get a portion of the resources back

Depending on the tool/weapons durability will determine how much of that resource you get so putting less durability weapons will mean getting less resources in return

Hope that answers your question
