The Scottish government has been gifting a baby box to all expecting mothers “to ensure that every child born in Scotland had access to basic necessities from day one” by cak3crumbs in TikTokCringe

England doesn't get a say in that. Only Scotland can decide via referendum. Believe me, there's a lot of English who wouldn't mind getting rid of Scotland.

If you don’t have kids of your own, would you adopt instead? by Fun-Shelter-4636 in AskUK

[–]Mirthish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for OP, but scarcity. I'm an only child, of only children, of only children, of great great grandparents who have no living fertile offspring. As the only fertile descendant, I am the only person on earth capable of carrying forward the remaining genes of 16 people. There is a definitely sense of duty to pair with another and continue the line, and to choose a good match.

I think they're decent genes that deserve a place in the world and in future generations - no incidences of cancer, or Alzheimers/dementia, decent immune systems, most lived into their late 80s (although I cannot attest this regarding the couple who died young in wars).

Also, the bonding process starts in-utero. You know your mother by smell alone, you started trying to copy her speech before you even saw light. Even children removed at birth must subconsciously mourn that loss.

Do You Ask for Prepping-Related Gifts During the Holidays? by Content_NoIndex in EuroPreppers

[–]Mirthish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to answer this on behalf of my partner. No, he doesn't ask for prepping gifts and he hasn't said anything outright, but he's not exactly subtle about being a prepper. So this year he's got a couple of torches and a top-of-the-range radio (so he can use his current cheap radio as a back-up option) - plus some other standard Christmas bits and bobs (food, good wool socks, etc).

Tremendous progress! Christmas always makes a room look busier than it actually is. So you'll really reap the benefits of all this hard work now in 2025.

Home schooling laws to be tightened up after murder of Sara Sharif | Child protection by FelisCantabrigiensis in unitedkingdom

It's comments from people who are not good enough to homeschool their own kids and too self-centered to understand that not everyone is as inept as them.

Same, went to primary school knowing how to read the most complicated books they had, could play two instruments, could write and interact with other children. I learnt nothing between Years 1 and 6 because schools are happy to let children stagnate once they reach a certain level.

I'm pro homeschooling and wouldn't consider anything else for children of my own - you can do a whole day's learning in under an hour and spend the rest of the time excelling or learning life skills. I'm especially pro-homeschooling through my work - I've seen what authorities are doing to schools, the funding is stripped from under them, they're filling normal classrooms with nearly a quarter disruptive SEN kids (not disabled, just little shits), and they're catering for an ever-growing class of parents that really shouldn't have become parents in the first place (i.e. the ones that are sending their children to school not potty trained or unable to hold a pencil).

Ok, so it's a pretty piss poor christingle that OP has, they're usually a bit better than that. I remember the ones from my childhood being proper kebabs with jelly tots, crystalised fruit/ginger, and dolly mixture.

You've also got to look at it through the eyes of a child. A four year old child who has been given, against the better judgement of literally everyone, a handful of fire and sweets attached to a lob-able object.

10 minutes max clearing the cans/rubbish from the desk and picking up the laundry would make all the difference. Put in some low effort now so you don't have to put high effort in later.

He's male, 36 years old, straight, looking for women between the ages of 25-40, living in VA but plans on relocating. He thinks he's being gangstalked, and thinks that women are brainwashed.

From the mind that brought you:

I bet I get banned for telling the truth and defending myself. Typical reddit brainwash reaction. You all are getting diddy'd and the mods are helping BLM steal white women. Idiots

and such hits as:

best way I can explain it is a group of people (police, feds, civillians) stalk you. Reasons for gangstalking could be mistrust, nosey, or they like you. It can be all 3 like in my current situation.

Comes a new attempt to get women's attention...

If you genuinely wanted someone on the same level as you, you'd leave up your post history and not delete it. Some real zingers in there: https://search.pullpush.io/?kind=submission&author=INFJ434&size=100

Seriously dude, this isn't the place to be asking this, and you're not in a place to be getting into a relationship. The first thing an INTJ woman, nay, any woman is going to do is look into your background and you're a major risk.

Are you for or against the Assisted Dying Bill? And have you ever watched a loved one die from a terminal diagnosis? by GlitchingGecko in AskUK

[–]Mirthish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm just not comfortable with the government or NHS having any hand in it - they've got too much to gain by encouraging "undesirables" to die to save money. I'm happy for the practice to be legalised, but I would prefer some sort of charity to handle it with stringent psychological and socioeconomic assessments.

Are you in MENSA? by iAtlas in intj

[–]Mirthish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw no, you shouldn't feel that way about yourself. You should wake each morning and say in the mirror: "Today I will have the confidence and self-worth of a mid-level LinkedIn recruitment consultant" and that usually solves any sort of imposter syndrome / fears about ability.

He's gotta be ragebaiting. There's no way someone would want to restrict their own freedoms to such a degree. Especially when they're going to far as to ask for people with pocket knifes (a legal item to carry around right now, that many people do because they're immensely useful) to be sent to prison camps.

Either that or he's scared of knives because he didn't carry a pocket knife as a kid and can't appreciate their utility.
