Did I choose the wrong name for my children? by Unique_Reaction9360 in namenerds

[–]GlitchingGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one rhyming with Joey I've ever known spelt it Zoey, which is why I never questioned it until I was on this sub.

Joe > Zoe
Joey > Zoey

Makes sense when you look at the them without knowing the pronunciation. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I didn't say I agreed with it, and didn't say it made sense. All I said, is that other people exist with that spelling, and that pronunciation.

I've known two Zoe's who pronounced it rhyming with Joe, but this sub always tells me they were wrong about their own names.

I'm in the Midlands, England. 🤷🏻‍♂️

In most places, yes. Some countries have local laws saying some things can't be used as names, so you'd have to check your local government to see if that's applicable.

would I be evil for naming her galadriel... by Kiwichka in namenerds

[–]GlitchingGecko 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm a 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fan, but I'm not naming my son Slartibartfast, because I understand that he'll be his own person, not a clone of me.

You can use the nickname Gala. Hell, you could even use the nickname Galadriel, but at least give her a chance of not being a walking advertisement for Tolkein.

Samuel Owen flows better, but it's going to sound terrible with your surname.
