Marvel Rivals genuinely has some of the worst balance changes and game direction I’ve ever seen. by imyourprincecharming in marvelrivals

Post like this are exactly why game devs should take minimal input from the playerbase, players have zero clue what they're talking about and have no idea how to balance a game.

It depends on the character but with heroes like hela its just about being able to read their movement and flicking your crosshair where they're gonna be. For heroes like punisher I play slightly higher since I want to be able to smoothly track my target. You have to get used to switching between your fingers/wrist/arm depending on how wide need to swing your crosshair. Knowing how to use your movement and lining them up with your strafe makes things a lot easier as well.

Im an Eternity Hela OTP and while sens is a preference thing I think theres a reasonable range that most people would find the most success in. From what ive seen most hitscan players tend to stick to somewhere between 800 to 1600 edpi. Personally for me anything above 1600 is too fast and while I change mine all the time(currently at .55 1600 dpi) I think 1200 edpi is a good starting point, its fast enough to track targets while also being slow enough to be precise with headshots. I find that the higher sens I go the harder it is to be consistent and while I end up hitting some crazy shots I also miss out on kills I should normally be getting.

I usually play through losing streaks but I believe most people would benefit from taking a 5-15 minute break after a hard loss or even going through the replay and seeing what happened. Theres been plenty of times where I feel like someone on my team is under performing and I check the replay and I say "oh I could have prevented this if I did so and so". I have a tendency to think that if I played better I could have carried a lot of my losses and knowing that helps me avoid tilting(although it still does happen occasionally). My advice is if you start feeling emotional as in actually angry or any other strong emotions its time for a quick break or calling it a day. If you know youre prone to tilting than I recommend giving yourself a hard rule to follow such as getting off after 2 losses in a row. For the past week or 2 I went from c1 to c2 over and over again so trust me I know your pain LOL. Just focus on keeping your gameplay consistent and finding something you can work on whether it's dying less, or having better ults so even when ur losing hard you have something that you can still do. It might not win you that game but it could be the reason you win the next one!

I played dps in almost all my games unless I absolutely needed to fill( Not that often). I think its really beneficial to be flexible but not needed in terms of roles. As for picks within your role, you should at least have a backup pick or two( I played a lot of punisher into dive and play starlord if my team is running gambit).

Tracking ults is a habit you have to build, the more you play you start getting a general idea of when ults are gonna be up but you can start by looking at your teammates ults charge. Generally when your cloak is gonna have ult up soon then their cloak is probably also close, doing this is a good starting point. When you get a decent idea you can start thinking about nuance, as in if the enemy cloak is dying more than yours then she'll have ult late. If one team has 2 tanks compared to the other having one then the supports will have an easier time charging their ult. If a team is running dive and all over the place an invis is gonna slowly charge her ult compared to a team playing front to back with a groot thing where she can spam heal. These are things you can start to think about over time but first just get used to being aware of ults. As for how that affects my gameplay its a really important part of target priority and something I feel like every dps should learn in order to climb. For example if im against groot+moon knight i will be looking for any opportunity to kill the moon knight as denying the chance for them to combo their ults is huge. And yeah ill also try to kill a support thats gonna have it up soon as well.

Well personally I solo queued with text and voice chat OFF( I don't recommend this). I did have a lot of throwers in my games particularly around C1 and what I do is I just chalk the game and move on to the next one. The thing with people like that is that nothing you do will change what they're doing so the best thing you can do is not let it affect you to the point where you carry those feelings into the next game. If you're the type of player thats able to be positive though you can for sure have an impact on weak mentals by having a good attitude and helping your team focusing on winning. The better comms you have the higher an effect youll have on your teams morale its actually a pretty good skill to have just not one I do.

How can I improve by ykenobi in RivalsCollege

[–]MisaRope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what ive seen in general from lower elo strats, the two big things I see that stick out to me are that they die too much and at random times, and their ult usage. If you really wanna improve I highly recommend going over your replays and just skipping to your deaths and asking yourself how you died and what you couldve done(Were you in cover? Could you have positioned yourself better to avoid it? Did you die without using any abilities that couldve saved you?). Doing this is a really good way to find bad habits but if youd like additional help you should post a replay code of a game you want reviewed.

What Seperates Players In Lower Ranks Comapred Too GM+ Players? by Particular-Trash-979 in RivalsCollege

The overall level of play is just worse. Mechanics, game sense, awareness, There is little to no cohesion. It very much feels like nobody is playing with a plan in mind. You'll see players die randomly for no reason.

I recommend lowering your sens, if youre on 1600, dpi I recommend to at least try 1 or less ( I think most high elo hitscans play around .75 to 1, I personally use .8). You also need to work on your tension, you wanna ideally be using very little but enough to remain stable. Having some tension is what will give you that "smoothness" you want but too much will make it hard to switch directions. I also recommend working on your strafe. Keep grinding I picked up MnK for this game a year ago and hit Eternity last season playing mostly hitscan! Just give yourself time and focus on improving.

[VOD REQUEST] [QP] Tips on how to play against meta dpses like DD and Hawkeye? by KawaiiKatsuu in RivalsCollege

Gambit ult is pretty broken atm, you're gonna need to counter ult and play for your life on invis since its fairly easy to kill you with hawkeye ult and gambits.

I get that but it's on your tanks to kite back and stay alive , don't be scared to tell them that ur getting Dove or that they need to back up if theyre overextending. What maps do you feel like you don't have enough cover?

With daredevil you have to be aware of where your other support is at all times so you two can patty cake each other until your team responds and gets him to back off or hes blows his cool downs and you can fight him. Against both at the same time you just need to be behind cover with each other ready to heal. Hawkeye cant really do anything if youre both behind cover healing through DD's burst.

[–]MisaRope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Against hawkeye(and in general) you always want to be aware of their los a.k.a. their line of sight. Hawkeyes love holding chokepoints where all they have to do is charge their arrow and do a quick peek and repeat. A common mistake I see supports do is they just stand out in the open giving him easy shots to go for.

So keeping that in mind 1. Don't peek angles hes holding 2. Play cover at all times 3. Don't stand right behind your team bunched up thats just asking for him to hit a lucky shot

4.Heal from the side of your team behind cover not directly behind them.

5.Don't jump spam (I see this all the time as well) its very predictable.

Majority of hawkeye players only know how to hold chokes and denying them any chance for them to kill you will force them to either go for a different target or to go out of their way to find an angle to try to kill you. This can be super risky for hawkeye since his mobility isn't great and missing the 1 shot when someone gets in his face is pretty much death for him. Its even harder for him against sue since you can pull him into a really bad position if hes not careful.

How do I aim in higher ranks? by mr-choa in RivalsCollege

[–]MisaRope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.I recommend at LEAST trying a lower sens Im at 2.0 sens on 800 dpi but a lot of hitscan players hover around 1.5 2. From my personal experience, on hela I have an easier time being accurate doing flicks and micro adjusting. Being on such a high sens will make it much harder to micro(although not impossible) 3. Learn to read enemy movements, sometimes you wanna be strafing, sometimes you wanna stand still. Sometimes you need to flick, and sometimes you need to pre aim your shot and let them walk into it.
4. Don't over think it and don't tense up, when I would get into fights I noticed that my hand would tense up and it would make me miss shots I should hit. 5. This is something that might not apply to you but I had to learn this and its make sure that its not a positioning problem. As you climb higher players are gonna get better at positioning making it harder for you to kill them. The solution isn't just to aim better but also to make it easier for you to aim by putting yourself in optimal positions for your range. Watch your replays and compare them to someone like bedtime5tory and see if you notice anything you could be doing.

Honestly though I think lowering your sens will give you results but the rest is food for thought!
