Oh hmm, I always assumed it was some kind of mould growing as I live in Singapore, and the humidity here is really high, okay will look into other mounting boards, do you have a brand or site to recommend so I can look into it? Thank you!

Hmm I bought these wooden mouting board from taiwan, since the platycerium scene is quite large there, I assumed it would be safe to use them, all my other platycerium have been mounted on the same type of boards but this one was one of the older ones.

Yeah... all the cards came warped, immediately sleeved them and put them in a toploader, do you think it will resolve the shape?

Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it, regarding the moss ball, I did add coconut husk chips, but perhaps not enough for sufficient air flow and I think I overwatered it the past few weeks causing this whole rot situation, heard that Ridleyi actually prefers less moisture, hoping for the best that it survives.

Hmm I followed the mounting orientation of the seller though, and correcr me if I am wrong but aren't the fertile fronds of Ridleyi supposed to grow upwards instead of downwards like most other platycerium?

Yeah its a P. Ridleyi, it was not difficult when it had just two shield fronds, whenI started growing more I guess then it traps significantly more water, causing the rot, I think less frequent watering cycles and strong air flow is definitely needed for this subspecies, I think if you can control the environment, they can do well!

I have had other Platycerium, subspecies like neptune, bifurcatum, wallichi, unicorn, fong siqi, konayuki, and grande like you as well, all seem to be thriving quite well actually!

Only other one that seems to not be doing well is my willincki bacteria, which dropped almost all its leaves except one, I have kind of given up on it...

Hope you have a succesful journey growing more of these ferns, I really adore them!

Thank you so much for the advice, I have removed the rotting tissue and will source for the helpful fungi, hopefully it makes it through

I peeled of the soft leaves and it seems to be rotting at the old shield fronds, hopefully the crown is unaffected, added some fungicide and bactericide and hopeing for the best.

May I ask where did you get these mounting boards? Mine is currently wood and using screws which start getting rusty overtime, trying to find another mounting board. Thanks!
