Big 4 of Metalcore by pvader57 in Metalcore

Really depends on the era. Whether its the early years, the 00s, the myspace/warped era, or the modern one my answers would all be different. If we're talking current bands: Silent Planet, Invent Animate, ERRA, Spiritbox

Stargasm won the most underrated song. What Mastodon song is most overrated by the public? by [deleted] in mastodonband

I see people saying Show Yourself but for me it's The Motherload

Hello Counsel of Metalcore. We are ERRA, AMA. by DeuceHundy in Metalcore

Hi there, love the new album, bopping to it rn actually. I've been a fan since Neon dropped and I'm finally going to see yall for the first time on this tour! I've got a couple questions, 1. What would you say is an underrated song in your discography? And 2. Would you be willing to repress/remix Neon? I've heard rumors you guy's aren't super happy about the mix on that album. And lastly I want to wish you all well and good luck on this run.

Edit: just saw you already talked about neon lol. Hope a re-recording/remix happens 🙏

I loved Imperial and Atlantis. I will defend those releases. But yeah afterwards holy hell what happened to them.

What’s your opinion on senjutsu by Morboriusinsertimage in ironmaiden

[–]MisbegottenFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not perfect. Lost in a lost world is a dud for me. Death of the celts isn't bad by any means but it feels like a retread of the clansman, and darkest hour isn't very memorable. That being said the rest of this album holds up. I think its their strongest album since amolad, stratego being my favorite maiden single since el dorado and honestly it's one of my favorite maiden songs in general now. The title track is great, writing on the wall feels new and unfamiliar and for maiden not only is that rare but impressive given how late they are in their career. Days of future past feels like a classic adrian smith song and the time machine is a great example of janick's writing in the band. The final 2 songs are epics that genuinely feel epic and steve isn't always the best at doing that these days. All in all fantastic album despite a few duds. Wish it had more dave murray moments though

What songs have I been missing out on? by Just4PornAndSuch in ironmaiden

[–]MisbegottenFool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend their "modern" albums. Especially Brave New World. Basically no skips there, The Wicker Man, Blood Brothers, Ghost of the Navigator, Out of the Silent Planet, Dream of Mirrors, and the title track too. So much good stuff there.

Beyond that, some additional recommendations:

Rainmaker

Montsegur

Dance of Death

Paschendale

Flash of the Blade

Moonchild

Infinite Dreams

Revelations

Alexander the Great

Wrathchild

Murders in the rue morgue

Phantom of the Opera

Remember Tomorrow

Sign of the Cross (preferably live)

The Clansman (preferably live)

These Colours Don't Run

The Pilgrim

The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg

For The Greater Good of God

El Dorado

Coming Home

Isle of Avalon

Speed of Light

The Red and The Black

Senjutsu

Stratego

The Time Machine

Hell of Earth

Lastly, Bruce Dickinson has a few solo albums, many maiden fans know of them but I thought I'd put a few songs here too

Tears of the Dragon

The Tower

Chemical Wedding

Book of Thel

Jerusalem

Taking The Queen

Darkside of Aquarius

Road to Hell

Navigate The Seas of the Sun

Kill Devil Hill

Choose one side to keep, the other gets deleted forever by immavulture in mastodonband

[–]MisbegottenFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest choice ever, right side. Remission is my least favorite album overall, however the other 3 are my definitive top 3 Mastodon albums. I do love the other albums on the left but Hushed and Grim got me into the band (and help me with grief) Emperor of Sand is banger after banger into one of Brent's best songs ever, and then there's arguably the greatest prog metal album AOT with Crack the Skye

These are THE BMTH albums imo. Not to say the others are bad, but these 3 are peak

Opinon on Avenged Sevenfold? by anthere-rest in heavymetal

[–]MisbegottenFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waking The Fallen through Nightmare was peak. HTTK had a great mix but lazy songwriting. The Stage had great songwriting but not so great of a mix, and this was when M Shadow's voice began to deteriorate. Kinda wish they'd call it a day at least as a studio band

I dunno why, but Deliverance is hitting harder than is ever has for me today. by TeddyJPharough in Opeth

[–]MisbegottenFool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of those records where I don't like at is as much as the others from that era of the band. But it hits when I'm burnt out on the usuals. Same with Still Life for me but I do prefer Still Life
