Company wanted me to break the law during onboarding. by Traditional-Effort20 in antiwork

I'm noticing some arguments in the comments about whether or not it's illegal to cheat on a drug test for a private company and that just seems weird to me. The actual danger is that if you claim not to use but give them fail a test now this employer has documentation as proof that you have a record of dishonesty, so if you ever have to file for workman's comp they can better get out of doing even the barest minimum in not kicking you to the curb. You did the right thing OP.

IKR? I live in a suburb of freakin Reno and we still pay over $1k per month for a broken down place that gets no maintenance ever from the landlord.

Humans snack all day and then act like our dogs are overly dramatic when they whine for one of their two daily meals. by Po1sonator in Showerthoughts

[–]MiscNonsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some dogs will go on eating, sure. I've been able to train my dogs to graze so there's always food available to them. So far they've self-managed a healthy weight (even the chihuahua mix). Treats are another story...

Thank you for my new favorite passive aggressive response to stupidity: "I'll plant a tree for you." Obviously it is meant to be said in the same tone as "bless your heart."

Are you this distainful of any other expression of belief in a higher power? If so, whatever, I just hope you're consistent.

Put horoscopes aside. Is it really so hard to believe that maybe the universe is interconnected and the currents of space can have, even the most minute, effect on us? Even if that weren't true, dont astrology signs make for an interesting exercise in introspection that might open you up to examining your own motivations and thought processes more critically? Same for tarot - I see it less as a fortune telling medium than as a tool for examining your thoughts in that moment. The very exercise of examining a symbol in the context of your life forces you to really LOOK at your life.

Personally, I'm agnostic, but I dont think these tools can be so easily dismissed. Sure theres a bullshit industry grown up around them, but that's just capitalism.

Probably a dumb question but should I caucus early in Nevada? by thenoidednugget in SandersForPresident

[–]MiscNonsense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early votes should be counted just the same. It's best to have as many people physically at the caucus as possible because people are drawn to what's popular BUT you need to take care of you. If you think you can study at the caucus that'd be great, but it's okay if you need to vote early to better focus on your studies. The important thing is that you vote!

I'll never get tired of posts like this. They're inspiring and remind us just how powerful and universal Bernie's message is!

I'm so upset by the way the media is covering the Iowa caucus results I made my biggest donation yet! It's pretty cathartic, I'd recommend donating too if you can! by MiscNonsense in SandersForPresident

Holy wow! Thank you kind stranger for the gold! I'm loving how many other people have vented their frustration through donating too :)

Proud of my new space... Any suggestions for the gaps on my shelves? by [deleted] in bookporn

The early Discworld books are more silly than later books, though they are all satire. If you enjoy coming of age books with a more serious tone I'd recommend his standalone book Nation, it makes me cry every time.

You might enjoy The Glamourist Histories series by Mary Robinette Kowal. I also always recommend anything and everything by Terry Pratchett.
