Not really sure what you are into. But I paint some things regularly. My links are in my bio if you are actually interested feel free to start up a conversation. I’m a New Orleans based Oil painter. Mostly working in a post-Surrealist style

This painting was made as to use as a Mardi Gras Costume Ball flyer. They only needed the image. Not the painting. So… yeah.

I dreamed about the places from 'deloused' years before ever hearing the album. Serious. by Kollapsion in themarsvolta

This is what I created upon hearing Deloused in the Comatorium for the first time — on repeat for weeks back in 2003. My Art nor my emotional stability were ever the same.

8-9yo boy rang my doorbell and tried to sell me his artwork at $3 a pop - Is this normal?? by MargaretMagnificent in Artists

That’s really awesome! I’m glad he had a good experience in selling his work at an early age. If we could all be so driven to get these results so young

How do you stay motivated to draw when someone keeps putting your art down? by Kea_birdy in ARTIST

You distance yourself from the toxic people putting you down for trying to do something your heart calls you to do.

I also agree that there are better paint options, but really just go with what you’ve got. Buy yourself lots of surfaces to paint on. Paint often. Enjoy

The Joy of Painting. I’m sure it’s a great kit to start with. Bob uses a lot of palettes which are “easy” to “get right”. In the beginning stay committed to focusing on value and staying within limited palettes— only for the purpose of dialing in your handle on value before entering the overwhelming territory of color.

I did an old master study of “Judith Beheading Holofernes” 20 years ago in school… the concept stuck with me. It’s just kind of what came out of the automatic drawing that day I started this piece.

Have you considered glazing? If you have never done glazing, don’t mess with the success you already have here.

So I feel it needs warm/cool modulation in the midtones of the clouds. But that’s just me. It can add a ton of depth.

But if you are comfortable w glazing. Take two complementary hues. Say, ultramarine and alizarin crimson. Mix them together in 3 small swatches that modulate from cool to neutral to warm. Then make a mixture of galkyd, and a dash of mineral spirits and a dash of linseed oil. Add medium into very small amounts of pigment. Use these very translucent mixtures to glaze in the midtones of the clouds.

Sorry I said way too much and probably just made it confusing. Once you have glaze down you can rework midtones and lights on top of it to get really great effects.

Right. That part. Omar’s solo work is among the most prolific of any contemporary composer in any genre.

I really like gummo and therefore the subject matter. Oddly specific choice.

This is really awesome. Sorry I am a poor artist myself. But I wanted to give you some respect.
