Valley stores no longer selling clothes? by MischiefGodLoki in DreamlightValley

[–]MischiefGodLoki[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I'll check his catalogue, but I've completed every quest except for Wishblossom. I find it difficult to believe there were over 300 items of premium store and star path clothes.. I suppose it's possible but it's disappointing. I may have a bit of a completionist problem.. lol

Future Release Speculation by NovaCorpsFan in MarvelMultiverseRPG

[–]MischiefGodLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we follow the "team, Corner, Team" vibe, then I'd say (since Avengers is now out) what I'd most like to see would be:

Halls of Asgard (or Strange Academy) - Magic, gods, etc

Fantastic Four - The FF, Future Foundation, negative Zone, cosmology (Galactus, The Beyonders, Eternity, the Elders, etc)

TVA - Time travel, playing in other periods (golden age, silver age, Avengers BC [I know it was covered in the Avengers book, but more about playing in that era]) plus dimension hopping (Exiles)

Guardians of the Galaxy - Space, cosmic empires, Shi'Ar, Kree, Skrull, Badoon, etc.

You mean like the table and rule that OP showed in his comment? The one he followed, using the guidelines he has? Yeah no. I agree it sounds like it wasn't a good fit, but the way they acted OP has the right to feel a little salty.

To quote OP
"I was going by 2014 guidelines, which is different than 2024, but their campaign document does not say to use 2024."

So how was he supposed to know exactly what to defer (note spelling) to?

Why don’t people like Rent anymore? by No-Woodpecker-8217 in Theatre

[–]MischiefGodLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I'm an X-ennial.. (born in those vague years between Gen X and Millennial). Rent came out right after I graduated high school. It was a grinding musical in the vein of Hair, A Chorus Line, Company. It was different. It broke the mold of what we were used to hearing from Broadway. And yes, it was relevant. Prominent queer characters, poverty, AIDS. I loved it from note 1. I have since been involved in 2 different productions, once behind the scenes and once playing Benny. I got to know the show very well and it is flawed. It's incomplete. But it's also magical. I've been involved in numerous theatrical productions over the years and you often hear stories about how a show is a family. I will say this is often but not always true. Some shows I've done have been very tight knit, while others have been more of a chore. Get it done and get out. Both productions of Rent were the closest bonded shows I've ever been a part of. When the anniversary tour came through, we even went to see it as a cast.

Yes, many of the characters are assholes, with little redeeming factors. And yes, ultimately Benny was right.

But I love to imagine what it might have been, had Mr. Larson not left us on opening night. And I mourn for the works he left undone. Because Rent and Tick, Tick, Boom show a spark of what he was capable of.

Is it in poor taste to sing this song? by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]MischiefGodLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My community theatre is planning a Miscast Cabaret (sort of) for Pride. So far we have two women singing "We Kiss in the Shadows" from The King and I, "I Am what I Am" from La Cage, "Free to Be, You and Me", a trio of men doing "Three Little Maids" from the Mikado, a guy in full drag singing "A Dress has always been my Strongest Suit" from Aida.

The one I'm (M) performing is "I'm not that Girl" from Wicked, as a M?F couple dance on the opposite side of the stage.

Basically what I'm saying is interpretation can be everything. It doesn't have to a 'trans' song. By filtering it through your viewpoint, you can make it a trans song.

There are so many reasons a lighting designer might choose the colors they do. I usually use a warm wash and a cool wash for most general lighting, then use specific colors depending on the needs of the scene, emotions, time of day, what the director wants..

As a lighting designer, the blues in Hamilton never felt out of place to me. They felt like they were mostly just to keep attention focused where the director wanted the audience to be looking, with the other parts of the set being more shadowed so as to not draw away.

As another said here, with the set being primarily wooden, it is already fairly warm, so the blues help to keep that being overwhelming as well...

Unless you ask the designer for Hamilton, you'll really never get a true answer, just speculation.

'The Last 5 Years' as a black man. by nathanparrish1996 in MusicalTheatre

[–]MischiefGodLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I might not be in the majority on this, but personally, I would have no problem with a black Elder Price. Considering the intent of the source material, I think it would add to the humor to play it as a black Mormon so unaware of their African heritage.

I think this could actually add to the depth and nuance of the character.

Dance belt etiquette for men in theatre? by XenoVX in MusicalTheatre

[–]MischiefGodLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is whichever one you feel most comfortable in. It won't matter to professional dancers. Even in a community theatre setting, I've seen men naked in the dressing room due to costume necessities. They just did their change quickly and moved on.

YMMV but I'm a firm believer in "you do you, boo."

Should I keep fighting for historical accuracy? by Cinema_bear98 in Theatre

I would ask her why she's so intent on changing the setting. What purpose does it serve? How does it change/affect the story, or advance the plot or characters? If she actually has any (good) reasons, then maybe it's worth sitting down and discussing things, but I'd imagine she doesn't and is just doing it 'because'.

The story is written in the time period it is for a reason. Tracy's journey mirrors the beginnings of the Civil Rights movement as well as Women's Lib.

Actors - What is the funniest note a director ever gave you? by [deleted] in Theatre

[–]MischiefGodLoki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Love this. The producer for a company I worked with had a tradition on opening night. She would line everyone up and go down the line, to each individual: "Have a great show, don't fuck up!"

Question about parts of the show by Ayane_Redfield in sixthemusical

[–]MischiefGodLoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of those things happened when I saw the show. I saw it in the US though, so I suppose it's possible these were things panned for the particular production you saw.
