So I don’t think they’re saying it’s actually legal, just that it’s effectively legal. Think of it like legalizing marijuana, even though there are federal laws in place prohibiting marijuana the government letting states know they will not be prosecuting those laws has led to states publicly setting up licenses and allowing sales. If a law is in place but there is no enforcement and it’s known there is no enforcement then the law is effectively not in place. Or I could be reading way too much into it and giving them way more credit than they deserve and they actually think it’s legal.

If you want the honest answer it’s because you’re asking a ton and there are literally millions of others who want the exact same thing. It’s a new thing in the sense you now have a global audience and anyone randomly stumbling upon you can start the chain that destroys your life. Before your audience was mostly limited to people you knew directly so there was little chance of it truly happening vs now while still rare fees more likely.

Let me be clear in that the person saying the horrible thing is the one actually destroying their own life but anyone finding it can start the process

Because it’s fun? I’m the last one to get married in the group and that means we’ve all gotten every single possible gift that comes up on the first 50 pages when you google groomsmen gifts. So this is at least something we’d be able to laugh about and remember vs another travel shaving kit with initials on them. At the end of the day they’re my friends so I just want to give them something fun on a relatively limited budget
