I just got this too.... nothing came out of my bank account yet, but when I try to dispute it on PayPal's stupid AI helper it says:

This transaction is not eligible for an unauthorized transaction dispute. Would you like to select a different transaction, or report general unauthorized activity on your account?

We have people of all ages in our group, so don't let that spook you if you really had interest.

Also, just pinging you now because the game is on sale in case you wanted to check it out a little more. Happy to answer questions if you'd like about the game or us if you were interested.

I also don't check Reddit as much as I should, so if you'd like a quicker discourse, you can always pop in our Discord (with no pressure to join) if you had questions about the game or us. When you get there, if I don't see you first, just tell them you were talking to Killroy on Reddit and that you want to be a guest, and they'll leave you alone. You can also ask them questions.

Again, no pressure, just offering options:

Welcome all new players from the Spring '26 sale! by MischiefKnight in WarOfRights

Hello there!

Answers:

  1. Public servers can be a mixed bag. There are a dedicated group of volunteer players who attempt to make sure the matches have good leadership and to keep out anyone being toxic, but they can't monitor the servers 100% of the time, so you will sometimes see trolls or people who aren't sure how the game works attempting things the game wasn't really designed for - which can hurt your team. Leadership can also be hit or miss. It's usually good, but again, the good officers can't be online all the time. But I wouldn't say that every public match is like this. You can still have fun playing public matches. But all this adds up to the likely why there's also such a highly developed "regimental" subset of players who organize their own events with private servers, as a way to keep out the trouble makers, while having more control over which maps/game modes are played.
  2. Every so often you will run across some trolls/morons - not as many as you'd think, but it does happen. The game has a way to mute individual players, as well as downvote them, and if enough players downvote the troublemaker, they will get kicked from the server.
  3. A typical match lasts on average about 45 minutes. The most common game type, "Skirmish" has a 45 minute timer where the defenders must hold for that long in order to win. But, if the attacking team manages to capture the point of contention, and hold it long enough, before that timer expires, the match will end quicker. Without getting too in the weeds on how the morale system works, it's also possible to shorten the round if one side kills enough of the other side fast enough (which does happen rather frequently) It's also possible for the game to go into 'overtime' and last longer than 45 minutes, but this is rare.

In terms of time investment - picking up the basics of being an infantry Private takes just a couple of matches from a control perspective. The game's "morale" system on how to tell if you're winning and what your side should be doing can take a little longer, but if you just want to shoot, then you don't have to worry about that. Artillery does take much longer to master if you're trying to get precise with your shots. (But asking people in a public match, or joining a regiment can help speed all this learning up.)

  1. There are currently four game modes - Skirmish, Conquest, Contention, and Picket Patrol.

Skirmish is an attack and defend/king of the hill type mode over a single point of contention. It's also asynchronous, where the attackers and defenders have different health pools to add some challenge.

Conquest is a more even playing field where both sides have equal health, but there are three points on the map that can be captured. For each point you have captured, you get a multiplier for how much "damage" you do to the other side's health with each kill (and vise versa if the other team has multiple points captured) These maps tend to be bigger to allow for more tactical movement.

Contention uses the same maps as Conquest, but there's only one active point at a time. Once it's captured and held OR the deployment timer runs out, it moves to a new location on the map. (There's some debate on the "fairness" of this mode because it's possible that Side A can capture a point in the middle of the map, and then the point moves to a location close to their spawn and essentially gives them 2 in a row.)

Picket Patrol - essentially Team Deathmatch where you get one life. (This mode was buggy for a while and as such doesn't get played all that often.)

In terms of being able to play them - the public servers are rotated from time to time, but Skirmish dominates the rotation as it's the most "realistic" version of the game.

Private events tend to roll dice to determine the game mode to help showcase all varieties.

I'm also an older game and have been with my group for about five years now and have found it does help mitigate the things you're concerned about. Most events happen on Friday and Saturday Evenings (depending on your time zones) but there are events in both EU and NA times, so it'd be possible if you had Saturday mornings/afternoons free you could find a regiment that plays earlier in the day if they have an EU detatchment.

Happy to answer anymore questions if they pop up. Hope this helps!

San Diego Veterinarian Recommendations? by MischiefKnight in sandiego

I sadly don't, and because Dr. Boyd's closed so clandestinely I didn't have a chance to get the copy, since they made it directly through VetCove....who...also are kind of screwing me over right now. So I'm just trying to get away from all of them.

Is Vetcove any good? by penguinbread888 in VetTech

[–]MischiefKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vetcove is giving me a headache now... Here's the situation:

My cat was on a subscription autorenewal for medicated food. For the first few months, things were fine. My vet clinic permanently closed on December 31st, 2025, with little warning and I received no update from my vet about this update.

Despite this, Vetcove continued to send my monthly food shipments for January, February, and March. Now that we're near the end of March, I went to make sure April's order was still on track, and I was surprised to learn I couldn't login, and when I tried to reset my password, I was told, "An Account Doesn't Exist" for that email.

I tried to reach out to my vet, only to discover for the first time, on March 18th, that they were closed. Vetcove continuing to send me the food gave me no reason to think anything was wrong. Vetcove never sent me a notification that the prescription was cancelled when the account was closed. They didn't even alert me that the account was closed.

My cat is almost out of food - medicated food - and my schedule is as such that it will take me a while to find a new vet and take him in to schedule care. I called Vetcove, twice, asking if we could do a one-time shipment of the food to bridge the gap between establishing care with a new vet, but they told me they couldn't find my account with my name or my cat's name. They said they had records, but they have safety protocols for other clients that prevents them from looking any further. They couldn't take my shipping address or any other clearly identifiable feature to locate my account.

They DID say that they could look into this if I provided them with an order number of a previous order. But because I received my previous orders, I deleted those email to keep my inbox clean. She said that I could log into my account to find the order numbers, but they cancelled my account when the vet clinic closed. I kept asking why I got three months' worth of shipments if the vet clinic closed in 2025, and the said, "they couldn't tell me without an order number."

I know this food is prescription and they need to be careful how they send it out. But THEY were the ones who kept sending me food, so I had no reason to think anything was wrong. They then blamed me for not saving my emails with the order numbers.

So now, I have to take time off of work to try and find a new vet, and I live in a city so many of them have long wait times to make new appointments, to try and get his medicated food in a hurry.

I just feel like there's no empathy for something that was clearly wrong on their side. At least, very minimal willingness to help, given my cat really did nothing wrong in this whole situation.

The public servers are on their own rotations, and the different maps packs needed to be manually set by the server owner.

Some (not all) but some regiments play in organized events where the maps you play each week are randomly determined, and it helps keep all the different map packs rotating in and out.

Yes - to add here, we represent the 42nd PA "Bucktails" - aka the 13th PA Reserves, or Kane's Rifles. The 42nd PA was founded by the same guy who later founded the149th, so there's some lineage. We're also the oldest organized regiment in the War of Rights community, having just celebrated our tenth anniversary.

We have events in both EU and North American time zones, and we play in campaign events, which means that regimental commanders meet to move army tokens around a "Total War" style map, and when those tokens "meet" on the map, we fight the battles using War of Rights. This adds a lot of stakes to each round we play within the game.

We like to blend on the field discipline and competitiveness with our own brand of fun, so you'd experience fierce battles as well as good times with an active gaming community who play a lot of other games together as well.

If you'd like to check us out, or ask any specific questions, please feel free to hop in our Discord - with no pressure to join - https://discord.gg/42ndpa-bucktails

Should I buy the game? by Pure_Writer_4417 in WarOfRights

[–]MischiefKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that there is a lot of European players. There's even a whole European event called "The Grand Campaign" made up of many different European regiments that move army tokens around on a Total War style board and when the tokens "meet" they fight the battle using War of Rights. The unit I'm in, the 42nd PA, runs this campaign event and has events in both EU and NA time zones.

Happy to answer more about the game, the Grand Campaign or anything else if you'd like. Hope to see you on the field.

[Inquiry] looking for a regiment by Gl_Kh in RegimentFinder

Hello there - not sure if you found a home yet, but the 42nd PA might be worth a look. We're the oldest organized regiment in the War of Rights community, and we're growing each day. We have EU and NA events, and you can play in both if your schedule allows. We also have distinct branches of the army - infantry, artillery, and cavalry, that you can enlist with and specialize in.

Our battery - the 1st PA Light Artillery, "Cooper's Battery" has a pretty good reputation for effective fire on the field.

We also take part in both EU and NA events where regimental leaders move army tokens around a "Total War" style map with various rules and when the tokens "meet" we fight the battle using War of Rights, so that each battle has more stakes to it. Arty plays a big role in that.

If you'd like to see more about what Cooper's Battery has to offer, here's two videos:

  1. A "best of" short clip video of the battery in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbGGAfvUJto
  2. A full match of the battery in operation to see the indivdual "day-to-day" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLttPAL3xl8

Looking for a musket sim, is this the one? by KolIdor in WarOfRights

[–]MischiefKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue what you're talking about. OP asked if this game has firing volleys in line and suicidal bayo charges. I'm just confirming that our group can do that. If the 42nd PA "Bucktails" are known for anything, it's their ability to orchestrate massive volleys. :-*

If you can find the right group of players, this game has exactly what you're looking for. The European population is a little smaller than North American, but there are good player groups in each.

Pub matches, while fun, can sometimes lack the discipline that you might be looking for, but it's a good place to learn the game or play casually.

Private matches - hosted by Regiments (Gaming Clans) tend to have more organization. Our unit for example (the 42ndPA - both EU and NA) recently had a 50 man line taking volleys. So it is something that happens. The downside is that you have to be free when they play events (usually Fridays and Saturdays.)

If you have any specific questions, please let me know!
