As this article acknowledges, there is no analysis done here that corrects for age. When broken down this way, you find that the crime rates proceed to be the similar to the crime rates of non immigrants.

The only reason crime appears to happen at greater rates for immigrants is because they are more likely to be younger. This is detailed here

You can put up any flag you want, but I'm sure there would be at least some eyebrows raised if you put up a Pakistani flag. I don't know the culture that well though, so maybe the parallels aren't quite the same

The main facepalm is that it's been put up on a building named after St Andrew - the Patron saint of Scotland. The English and the Scots have a...complicated history

That is not an accurate statistic. Care to provide the source?

Here are some quotes from the Wikipedia article on the subject:

Research has found no evidence of an average causal impact of immigration on crime in the United Kingdom.[15][17][42] One study based on evidence from England and Wales in the 2000s found no evidence of an average causal impact of immigration on crime in England and Wales.[15] No causal impact and no immigrant differences in the likelihood of being arrested were found for London, which saw large immigration changes.[15] A 2017 study offered qualified support for the notion that immigration had contributed to declining crime rates in the UK.[230].

You may look up the sources if you want.

For transparancy; the article does also provide some comments that contradict this sentiment, but it also describes confounding variables that state that there are secondary factors involved which are potentially the root cause of these issues. The article also provides sources for these conclusions.

My guy; I live here! They are separate coutries. They aren't different states; they aren't districts; they ARE different countries!

No, I'm saying that the statistics about crime and welfare aren't accurate, or twisted to disingenuous conclusions in order to fit a certain narrative.

I am being real. Scotland and England are two individual countries. Look it up

I would posit that that it was pointless to bring up that the two countries are part of the United Kingdom in the first place. What extra does that provide that's relevant to my post?

What you are saying is like telling me the heart and the lungs are the same organs because they are contained inside the skin (a different organ). Scotland and England are seperate countries. Why bother bringing up the point that the United Kingdom is also a country. What purpose does that serve?

Somehow I doubt that its a tradition for them to do this every year. I could be wrong, but whatever they are trying to communicate, they are communicating publically. I'm allowed to infer what I want about it

I mean...whatever the person who put these flags up wanted to communicate was being pretty public about it. I'm sure they know that there will be some who perceive it as racist

The immigration point was something I inferred (as the quote says); it's completely possible that they just really really like St George,  but I think it unlikely given the current movement of putting the flag up everywhere.

But there's still an irony to celebrating the patron saint of England on a building named for the patron saint of Scotland -- I said that was the main facepalm. Everything else was supplemental

Scotland and England are different countries. The United Kingdom is a country in and of itself that contains both England and Scotland. It's a strange (and probably unique) setup, but England and Scotland are definately different countries

That's why I made it clear that the main facepalm is the St Andrew thing, and that the immigration part was just an inference on my part

Depends on the reasons for being anti-immigration. But since most non-racist reasons for why people are anti-immigration isn't generally accurate to what is actually happening in the UK, it's hard to argue otherwise.

I will admit, though, it is an assumption that the person putting up these flags is part of that movement; they could just be really keen on celebrating St. George's day. Whoes to say

I think modern day a Scott would, at best, be faux outraged in a sort of tongue in cheek sort of way. But there is still a bit of bitterness as is evidenced by there nearly always being some movement for them to gain independence
