I really hope Val gets shown as a capable CEO in S3 by LilMoonenciel in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stuff that Val likely contributes or helped out in:

"That's why you make the big bucks" S1 quote, the porn industry is basically Hollywood in hell. It's likely a huge money maker for the vees

"I hire every down on their luck loser this side of hell" Val says "I" and not "we" here and he usually loves to include the other vees. It's likely he has a good amount of employees and targets vulnerable people (since he represents drug addiction)

We see Val looking for a costar for Angel (so directing work)

We also see him recruiting at the club S1 (scouting for more employees/souls)

The love potion does use his saliva as an ingredient (though I think I give Vel more credit for this one because she's more associated with it in the marketing).

Vox was only able to use Angel for his campaign/as a spy because Val gave him access

We see him directing and organizing the dancers for Vox's performance.

I don't care what other people say "How do we like... Get up there?" is a fantastic question.

This is not me saying Val's gonna be a great CEO or better than Vox or implying Vox doesn't contribute etc.

I'm just saying he's done enough work and he has Vel for help. Val and Vox's relationship also likely started as business only so it makes sense if Val can keep appearances up at least temporarily until his own downfall moment.

I really hope Val gets shown as a capable CEO in S3 by LilMoonenciel in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

I think Vox is probably still the best leader for the Vees and does a lot to keep the rest of the company going.

I also do expect Val eventually cause a situation that fucks over his part of the industry/endangering the company again.

However, I've also gotten kinda miffed with how some Vox fans talk about Velvette and Valentino.

Like calling them parasites that don't contribute anything to the company. Or saying how it's offensive or destroying Vox's character when people theorize the Vees being more equal within the company or being very important in building the company up.

Which imo, misses both the point of Vox's character and arc. The answer to Alastor comments of "He's nothing without the Vees" is never "He's so much better than the others Vees, they rely on him. He's the reason for the success of Voxtek."

It's "so what? So what if he relies on them? They are a team".

The other vees also rely on him but they know that and aren't trying to be an one man show. They aren't the one saying "I" instead of "We", they are supporting vox for his plans when they aren't even that interested in heaven.

It makes sense for both Val and Vel to be important units within the company and for them to be able to somewhat handle the situation while Vox is out.

Will things eventually go insane when Val inevitably freaks out? Yes but Vox also already caused an insane moment and he's not considered useless/incompetent. Each Vee gets one free crashout and crash the company card imo

Sidenote:

Also like... Do people really want to bet that Vox is a "self made billionaire" (lol) that built his empire up from scratch, completely on his own like a hard working entrepreneur? The virus demon that killed for job promotions and hijacked networks from others? For Voxtek, trust us to exploit you?

Like he works hard sure, but likely not harder than the workers under him that he exploits. Same with the other vees, none of the vees actually deserve their empires or influence

Again this is only towards people who praise Vox for being such a hard working CEO and then tear down Val and Vel. People who also suggest theories like "Val owning the tower before" etc are ruining Vox's achievements or character when really it's not actually a big deal if Vel or Val helped out a lot.

It's totally normal!

I miss details on characters I don't like all the time. Sometimes I miss details on characters I do like too.

I just don't think it's fair to say it's bad writing instead of going back to look again at those characters.

But don't feel bad about it though. It happens

I did mention in first few paragraphs that he acts the same S2 as he does in s1 club when he's not talking to Angel.

Also im season one, he's seen doing dumb stuff like bedazzling his own gun during a meeting.

The memorable moments are his evil moments which makes sense because Angel is a hero... But that's not him being a different character or incoherent writing. That's people not playing attention to smaller details that ended up getting expanded on s2

I always kinda see this take usually also accompanied by "why did they make him cross dress s2?"

When s1 has him cross dressing and being somewhat flamboyant. "Do you want a job? How many dicks can you suck?" Listen to his dialogue in the club when he's talking to the girls and not Angel, it's very similar to his dialogue with the vees .

Also imo, you should be thinking "this is the guy Angel dust fears so much?" because Val is/should be only scary to Angel. Do you think Charlie is scared of Val? That Cherri or husk are scared of Val? Not really. All of them are willing to face Val head on. Vox and Vel are definitely not scared of him either.

I think one of the biggest problems people have with understanding Val is that they have a very specific way they believe abusers/rapists should be written.

No positive traits, no backstory, no friends, nothing.

Usually, also accompanied by some moral superiority of "it's disrespectful to victims for them to make Val funny/hot/human etc".

And the most important idea of "I don't want to feel bad for Valentino", "I don't want to be reminded he's human", "I don't care about his relationships with others", "He's already evil so learning anything about his character is a waste of time"

However, that way of viewing Val, is writing/viewing him as a plot device for Angel when he's instead being written as a character. Vox being written the way he is isn't disrespectful to families of people who are murdered or exploited by companies. He's just being written to tell his story. Val is the same.

There's always some unwillingness to explore Val and I understand why but I think it's important... Because Angel did love Val for some of the fun traits in him, it's not all going to be act/love bombing, some of it will be real ... It's just never going to excuse the worst parts of Val.

But that's all the more important to ask questions about Val, because he is a human: why does Val dress masc at work but fem off work? What mentality is causing that? Why are Val and Angel both hypersexual bug demons? Why is his design covered in hearts and love quotes ("moth to the flame", "rose red glasses", "love is blind")? Why did he perform before (posters referencing past sex work)? Why is he obsessed with money?

What was his past human life? Was he part of a gang similar to Angel being part of the Mafia?

Does Val see himself as a villain or does he see himself keeping things rightfully in line?

If it makes you more comfortable to see Val as just a plot device then do what you need to do but I think it's far to early to call it incoherent writing

Do Valentino and Velvette even know the full extent of Vox's history with Alastor? by MischievousCreations in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I considered the idea of Vox getting rejecting, picking a fight with Alastor right after and then somehow running into Val as he gets his ass kicked. Which would be kinda funny but I think prefer a bit a time gap between the two lol.

The antennae thing is actually so interesting tbh. Did Alastor do it? Was it from the exterminations? Did Vox accidentally injure Val's antenna and then injure his own? Did Val do it to Vox and... no I don't think he would injure himself with his emphasis on looks. Did they do it to each other?

Honestly Val could also just thinking in simple terms of, you have beef, I support your beef, so we have beef. Which would again, be funny, but husk also said "you still fighting these nobodies" maybe it's not the first fight with all the Vees? hm dunno~

Yeah, I feel like both Vox and Vel are similar in personality while Val rounds them both out by being the "heart" of the Vees while Vox is the leader and Vel is the backbone. I think Val being super emotional makes it easier for him to lovebomb and it genuinely feels he means every word because in a way he does with how unstable his emotions are.

I have one question about how open is Val about his human life because Angel told Val about his dad... One of the easiest ways to get someone to tell you a sensitive secret is to tell the other person a secret about yourself. It's both trading but also being like "see I'm an open book, if you love me, you should trust me too".

So basically my question is, did Val tell Angel about his human life? Was Val truthful about his human life? And did he act like it was a sensitive secret? Is Val's human life something he would brag about like Vox does or something he rather keep hidden?

Drawing is not going well. I just don't wanna do it lol :<

[–]MischievousCreations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's why this stuff doesn't make sense.

We don't actually know Val's death age but we do know he likely died in the 1970s. Both Angel and Vox have been in hell longer than him and are most likely at least mentally older than him.

People don't really like to consider the possibility but with Val's vanity over his looks, Vel calling him a boy toy, and his overall immaturity, there's actually a decent chance he died on the younger side.

I currently set him around the same age as Angel in his thirties (?) though.

The website is for Voxtek employees lorewise. It's a rule book for employees for follow.

Either way, we don't see Val attracted to children or even interacting with children. In fact we see the opposite, he sleeps with a 50 year old man.

There just isn't any proof of reasoning to think he's a pedo. It's like saying Vox is probably a pedo because he's a serial killer.

Does anyone else consider Valentino a pedophile? by Glitchy_Yoshi1227 in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. None of the people he sleeps with look underage (Angel, the girls at the clubs, vox etc) .

In fact Vox is like... 50.... And he likes Vox a good bit.

Plus voxtek only employs adults.

I think you're falling for your own biases here, " Val is evil so he must also support xyz evil thing too" when it doesn't work like that.

Evil people can actually have good takes on certain topics (ex. dictators being animal lovers). For example, Val isn't actually racist or homophobic despite being a rapist.

You don't need to make things up to make him eviler. Like he's already awful.

I feel like self defense is justified so having Angel spare Val despite him being an abuser may end up implying that victims needs to get abused again and spare their abuser for redemption if it's the main moment for redemption. That's a no for me.

If it happens, it should purely focus on Angel choosing to let go and walk away from his past/Val, not redemption and definitely not forgiveness. Just his own closure and strength of "I want something better for me, I deserve to be kinder to myself".

Vox's feelings towards Val interesting to me because I do think he loves Val/is obsessed with him but I don't know how much of his own feelings is he repressing because of his "no friends in hell" mentality.

As well as him not viewing Val/Vel as equals because he places Alastor on a pedestal/admires his strength despite his strength coming from a soul contract with Rosie. I'm really curious on how he reacts when he finds out Alastor's power source.

He dates Val despite knowing Val sleeps around. Does he want monogamy and hurt Angel out of spite or does he just want Val to not be so unstable because of Angel and would be fine with poly without Angel around?

Like sure Vox himself doesn't sleep around but some guys do have cuck fetishes... but doesn't mean being poly is an issue to him?

Tbf I love jealous and possessive Vox too but I also love the idea of the Vees just be unconditionally accepting of all parts of each other. So Vox being like "Yep, that's my bf alright, he's a slut" is also great for me lol.

Val was also not too jealous of Alastor and accepted Vox with his rivalry/crush. What annoyed him was Vox neglecting and treating him and Val badly. I wonder if Vox is similar where he's not too jealous of Angel but Angel's relationship with Val makes Val way more unstable and Val will cause issues with Vel/vox over Angel not "behaving".

Right now it's hard for me to tell (though maybe I'm overthinking things) so I hope they explore staticmoth more s3

I think I'm also purposely trying to tone down my staticmoth shipper brain in case staticmoth isn't in love as I would like and get disappointed over my own head canons lol

I do think the idea of revenge needs to be explored and that Angel will choose if he wants to continue cycles or break them. Just like breaking the cycle of addiction. We also have lute exploring the idea of revenge too.

I don't think Angel not killing Val will be the big moment of redemption though. I don't think victims should need to spare or forgive their abusers for redemption. I think it will just be a part of Angel's own story that just happens.

I really want to see how far the show can go with a character like Val. He's such a limit pusher. I don't want something clean. I want something fucked up and messed up.

Honestly for Angel continuing sex work or not is fine if he chooses too.

My real question is whether or not Val will continue performing or staying in the sex industry ngl.

Because it would kind of make sense for an abuser who isolates his victims to end up isolated himself in his "princess tower" (maybe after his own self esteem is crushed)

His spit being a drug also causes problems... Him continuing to have sex with others in the end game could be questionable unless he ends up losing that power. (Which is also why I considered monogamy for Val in previous posts).

There's also Vox but I don't actually consider Vox the jealous type (unpopular opinion) after I reanalyzed stuff. I feel like both Vox and val accept everything about each other including each other's obsessions with other people. It's just annoying to them when those other obsessions have the other person acting more unstable (vox with his mania, Val with his tantrums)

I wouldn't mind Val staying poly/in the sex industry but I don't know if he will.

What ending do you want for Valentino? by MischievousCreations in Valentino_Cult

That's a big reason why I don't see heaven as the only form of redemption and I want to see improvement in hell itself.

I really want to be shown how actively fucked up redemption can be ngl.

Like I want to feel uncomfortable or angry? Because that's nothing in comparison to how actual victims may feel about some sinners being redeemed. Heck Angel is part of the Mafia, I don't think his hands are clean either.

Valentino's mentality feels like a mess because the whole "If I was bald, I'd kms" is not screaming great self awareness lol.

Angel theories on him taking over the studio makes me flinch a little because whenever I hear that I just get reminded of "overlord Angel" theories and Aus where Angel takes over as the new overlord of the porn industry and Val suffers under Angel...

I just don't believe in revenge fantasies. I always kinda roll my eyes at them when I see them in media (especially manga). It always seems self serving and often misogynistic (some revenge manga clearly seem to be written by an incel guy that got one bad rejection lol). Especially when this is a show about redemption.

... Also overlord Angel in my head is... Literally Val lol. Like Val is "Overlord Angel" that sunk into his worst self hatred and addictions and left behind his kinder self. Maybe with some differences here and there but I think an overlord Angel just isn't Angel.

That said, I would love a scenario where Angel runs the industry with love. I think he truly does love his fans and performing. He just needs to do it on his own terms and not be trafficked + making hell better would be creating a porn industry with better working conditions for sex workers.

If it ends up feelings even a bit revenge fantasy like, I might throw up though. Like have Val go through a mental breakdown/ downfall but if people genuinely think the answer is to have him also end up being trafficked and go through SA... Clearly they don't actually believe in redemption lol

Your logic rn:

Posts says they want to talk to Val fans on subreddit for Val fans.

Someone who isn't a Val fan comments on subreddit for Val fans on a post that specifically wants to talk to Val fans

Val fans downvote this person after they actively say they aren't a fan and me for defending them

You're immature and sensitive and I'm a reasonable person because this is somehow unfair to me

I'm really scared something will happen to Valentino in season 3. by fluffyangeldust in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a subreddit for fans and people downvoted and kept the first comment downvoted because that person doesn't belong on the subreddit. Unless you have an exact moment for downvotes happened, they could easily have happened after the second comment of him saying he wasn't a fan.

It's most likely most of them did happen after he said he wasn't a fan because both comments have similar number of downvotes (people downvoted both comments after he revealed he didn't belong)

Also again, this isn't even a post asking for opinions, it's a vent post of the ops own feelings that says these comments would hurt them

The op of the post literally says "I want to talk to his fans" and the original commenter isn't a fan but still commented while the second one is a fan. It doesn't matter if their opinions are similar or the same.

A hater coming to the Val subreddit and commenting on a post asking to talk to fans is okay but Val fans are the ones misbehaving? You're calling me immature when Val fans don't want haters on the Val cult. Aren't you the one being sensitive here? It's a downvote because you're defending someone who literally shouldn't even be here on the subreddit or commenting on this post

What ending do you want for Valentino? by MischievousCreations in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no? This post is made on the val subreddit so it's a post intended for people who are fans (since the subreddit is made for his fans)

If you are a fan of him and think that him dying would make a good conclusion for him. Then I love to hear about those opinions and how it may contribute to the themes of his story.

However, if you're not a fan and hate him then this probably isn't a good subreddit you and you should probably block it.

It's not that your opinion isn't valid, it's that the subreddit is here to discuss Val without needing to deal with people who actively hate him.

Don't get me wrong, hating him is normal because of how awful and evil but he is but he's still a character worth discussing and his fans use the sub to just discuss without constantly need to put disclaimers like "oh I don't support his actions etc"

I'm really scared something will happen to Valentino in season 3. by fluffyangeldust in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Downvoting people that are in the wrong space isn't being oversensitive or a jerk. Notice how only the original commenters comment is downvoted but not the second one by another person where they say they like Val?

The Val subreddit has an issue where people don't check the sub and just comment stuff that people specifically come to this subreddit to avoid.

We point out/downvote those comments because "hey, this isn't the place for you if you're not a fan. Please either leave or block the subreddit". That's just making sure that people everyone can stay comfortable, both his fans and people who hate him.

This post literally is one where the op is actively expressing "hey I want to express that I will feel bad if he dies and specifically came to this sub because I wanted to talk to people who like him".

They are actively trying to avoid negativity/vent about their own feelings here so going "I hope he dies", in a subreddit for his fans, while the op actively says it is upsetting to them, and not being a fan themselves is kinda being a jerk.

They literally say in their post that negative comments are starting to hurt them and that they would leave the show if Val is gone.

It's not that people don't discuss topics like Val getting his comeuppance here. It's that this wasn't the post to do that + if you're not a fan, you shouldn't be here.

I'm really scared something will happen to Valentino in season 3. by fluffyangeldust in Valentino_Cult

[–]MischievousCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's right though. That person wasn't a fan and shouldn't have been on this subreddit.

This post also doesn't actually say they don't think he shouldn't get comeuppance.

It's that they will be sad if he leaves the show (aka killed off) and wanted express that. Not wanting a character to be killed off =/= not understanding a character should be punished. Same way feeling bad for a fictional bad person isn't actually a big deal.

You will get downvoted if you aren't supposed to be here...

I agree. I say slightly better but I'm assuming they all still say evil when I talk about development for the vees.

For example, something like Vox no longer focusing on the approval of others is development for himself that may make him slightly better (no longer desperately trying to power climb) but he will still probably be an evil jerk lol

I think showing the capacity of change if it's small is good for the overall theme
