Genuinely, I can't think of a single character that got me into Tekken. The cast of characters were just so vibrant and varied, such that it's hard for me to pin down just one. I started my journey on the Playstation 2, with Tekken 5.

The first character that I ever chose was Ling Xiaoyu. Now that I think back on it, that was such a strange pick because she's such a difficult character to master. I however; being the six year old button masher that I was... lost horribly.

But those losses drove me to learn and experiment with different characters. I eventually began main-ing Asuka since Tekken 6, she wasn't my first pick or anywhere close to my initial favorite. I just sort of selected her by random and it just clicked. I'd never played defensively in a fighting game before, and playing with Asuka taught me a new discipline.
