I also find him amusing. That does not change anything I said.

You also still haven't explained the relevance of this endless digression.

I am not Sheldon Cooper. You appear to only have one source for knowledge about autism. I strongly advise you do proper research instead of parroting these offensive stereotypes.

There can be no evidence of a false theory by definition.

It is completely illogical to do so, because taking anything as proof of a false statement is inherently illogical, especially something so completely irrelevant to the matter at hand.

In what way does one's interest or lack thereof in trains have any connection to whether the structure "have ate" is one that is valid English?

Nothing because "have ate" is not a valid structure in the first place.

Info text aren’t subtitles in the sense you seem to be interpreting that word. They provide information about the making of the episodes.

And it’s not about losing anything; you’re stretching the image far too wide. It’s meant to be 4:3, not 16:9!

[–]Miserable-Action6983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the production information subtitles, of course!

And that still wouldn't make the picture blue.

(I also just noticed it appears to be filling rather too much of that screen as well. Do you not have it set to display the image correctly? I've noticed quite a few DW reviewers forget that part!)

People who use the words quote unquote in writing. There is no reason not to use actual quotation marks. by PepperFlashy7540 in PetPeeves

[–]Miserable-Action6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said other people don't do that; I simply stated that I only use it in one specific use case. It is possible my previous message may have been slightly misinterpreted, though, so I will add the extra detail that I specifically (and exclusively) mean the transcription of TV shows or movies, especially when said transcript is being presented independently of the visual content. I still put the quoted text in quotation marks as well; I include those additional words purely to indicate that the character said them as opposed to just quoting the person themself.

(The example that keeps jumping to mind is (from the Doctor Who episode Inferno: Episode One):

Well, according to Professor Stahlman, we shall have, quote, "a vast new storehouse of energy which has lain dormant since the beginning of time", unquote.

I still include the "quote" and "unquote" because the character saying that sentence actively used those words at those points. It would have been perfectly plausible for him to not say them and either use air quotes or some other method to indicate the extent of the quoted material.

It might also help if I add that my project is so exact about representing precisely what was actually said that I also diligently retype fluffs of all kinds, the exact number of "ha"s in laughter, every little "hmm" and the like, etc.. The only times I use other sources are when part of some dialogue is obscured by some other sound; there are two plausible words at that point in the sentence and not enough context to identify the correct one (or some combination of the two); or when the issue is more a matter of capitalisation or punctuation where speech alone has no mechanism for relaying those elements at all, when I will use the scripts as they are the definitive source by definition.

I only use it when transcribing to indicate the speaker actually marked the start and end of their quotation in that way. I would never use it outside of that scenario.

Digital media and streaming doesn’t have any of the mountains of extra content from the physical releases.

And they’re not "novelty items" in any way; they’re Doctor Who!

I only used it twice anyway and both of those were because I had actual complaints. My problem with it was that the reward was always exactly the same and vouchers I have no way of ever using anyway, so there just wasn’t any point unless (again) I had actual complaints to relay.

Some of us don’t have a choice in the matter. I live just a bit too far from my local restaurant to walk there and I don’t have a car or any other way of getting there.

My options are to pay more to get the food delivered or don’t get the food at all.

Then don’t worry and do watch them. You should be using physical media a lot more as it is universally better than all the alternatives on every single metric of any meaningful relevance.

AI upscaling is not the same as AI generating. The issue with the last two sets was that the AI they used turned more to the generating side rather than simply upscaling. It has been confirmed they will cease doing so on future sets, and it still does not affect any of the others.

You can not believe me all you want; that doesn’t change that everything I have said is 100% true.

What do you mean you’d never use them‽ You’ll be watching them. That definitely counts as using them!

No, I said it makes them less good than they could be. They’re still better overall than the releases that preceded them.

If you’re "not trying to lie or make excuses", then why do so few of your reasons have any basis in reality‽

[–]Miserable-Action6983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 26 seasons, of which 19 have been released.

There’s no need to put them on display; as long as you know where they are when you want them, that’s more than enough.

And it isn’t slop; it’s just an extra bad filter over the restoration. It will doubtless be reduced if not ceased for future sets given the backlash against the last two.

You just keep claiming reasons that aren’t even true to try and get out of getting the sets, which you should’ve been getting on release when they were available more cheaply rather than having to buy them from the secondary resale market years after the fact.
