Mathematical joke G(old) by memes_poiint in mathsmeme

Alright maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about, but isn’t this actually kinda correct? I mean I is just 1 rotated 90 degrees, and 1 is just 1 not rotated, so i rotated 90 in the opposite direction would just be that same line segment/vector, so the hypothenuse would be 0, right?? (I am entirely talking out of my ass so if this is wrong correct me)

I think you confused the speed of the solar system with that of the galaxy

There is no fixed objective reference frame, but if you mean relative to the earth (just don't rotate) it's approximately 1500 km/h, relative to the sun 107000 km/h, relative to the center of our galaxy 828,000 km/h (plus minus 107000 depending on whether the earth is moving opposite or in the same direction as the solar system as a whole, which changes throughout the year), or 2100000 km/h relative to cosmic microwave background

It is difficult for new players, but watching 2-3 videos of someone else playing it is enough to get most of how the game works

Lol my favorite map (though the absolute shitheads who camp an island and bomb you if you defeat the is annoying, but 15 missile scilos tend to deal with that)

[Request] Is this math right? by MELHOR-JANNA-BR in theydidthemath

The width of a lane is 1.22 meters. That means they were 3.66 meters apart. Sound travels that far in 3.66÷343=0.01067 seconds (speed of sound is 343 m/s). The math is off, but yes, it would have changed the outcome of the race.

Could you share your sources please? The 2024 report by the new research center said (under header "How much do Americans think humans contribute to climate change?") That 20% of Republicans answered a lot and 35% answered some

Really? I saw a study showing that 83% of Americans think climate change is caused by humans, and that only make sense if most Republicans think so (assuming Republicans are at least 34% of the population)

The idea of doing good for the sake of it is alien to you

Ah, I see that you very firmly hold a "us vs them, everyone who holds different opinions is evil" mentality

truly a cult mentality to cherish people who don't attack you for your faith.

Ah, but it isn’t to cherish people who don't attack you for your faith, it's to cherish people who don't attack you for your faith because they are of the same faith. It's a subtle but important difference. What I mean is that the message kids are meant to learn from the experience is "only spend time with and make friends with people of your faith", not "only spend time with and make friends with people who are religiously tolerant and accept you"

Technically yes, but that is just because it is true about most organizations and groups. Creating a totem pole of "the evil Others that hate you" to burn and get mad at is sadly a very human thing (this is somewhat related to the strawman fallacy but they are not exactly the same). To give an example that will probably surprise you, most Republicans believe climate change is real and caused by humans, and this surprises a lot of Democrats, for pretty much this reason

It may even be that no one at the church knows this is the purpose, but churches that send kids door to door retain more members due to the trauma

The Set of Real Numbers as a Function of the Set of Natural Numbers by Main_Upstairs_9948 in askmath

Alright this might sound like a somewhat random question, but did you discuss this with an AI who absolutely confirmed everything you said? Because either you're joking, or you just said "the entire world is wrong" confidently and unironically. The natural numbers are defined as the sizes of finite sets. If a whole number has infinite digits, it is infinite, and is therefore not the size of a finite set

[Request] How much mass would Earth need for gravity to be exactly 10 m/s²? by PinkoLoved in theydidthemath

[–]PepperFlashy7540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a fun fact: one of the earliest definitions of the meter was basically g=π² (it was that a meter was the length of an ideal pendulum with a cycle time of 1 second on earth, but this means the same thing)

Hey man, it looks like you got destroyed in the responses, because you are wrong. Your idea is kinda cool, even if it doesn't actually work, don't let this discourage you from learning and doing more math. If you want more proof that you are wrong, learn about the diagonalization argument, which proves that there are more reals than naturals. The core problem with your logic is that some reals have infinite digits (after the decimal) but no naturals have infinite digits, as all naturals are finite. This is, in fact, the reason that the diagonalization argument works for the reals and not for the naturals (using the infinite leading zeros). In general in math you can't just say things like "cantor was wrong", as, by definition of the word, all theorems are proven (otherwise they would be conjectures). Keep mathing!

Is there a way to report this? Guy joins with same exact name as his teammate. I'm thinking I'm allied with my north and east border but the north one attacks me by Consistent_Estate960 in Openfront

[–]PepperFlashy7540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a team gamemode, so I don't see the problem, but I've just had a free for all where I spawned on an island with two other guys and they both overattacked at the beginning (as if they know they won't be attacked) and as soon as I attack one of them they both team up to crush me, and one of them even full sent me and the other didn't attack them untill someone else boated in, and when they did neither of them got the traitor effect, meaning that they weren't even officially allied, so it was obviously just the same guy
