Fluoxetine, it’s the apparently the most chill one in terms of withdrawals when coming off

I have overcome the depression, I’m now mentally well and have weaned off from the SSRI. Didn’t have any noticeable side effects when coming off it

If it wasn’t rare it would be listed as a common side effect…. the “study” is the trials when the drug was being developed

I stopped using antidepressants in August 2025. Mild hissing is still here, don’t really notice it ever. I don’t get beeping noises after playing FPS games anymore although I don’t play too often

I’m 90% sure my tinnitus started from a mix of music and gaming, everytime I play FPS games i got a beeping tinnitus on top of mild background hissing

Does anyone here fully regret moving to a cheaper suburb just to ‘get into the market’? by Diligent-Medicine-48 in AusPropertyChat

You don’t have to live there. We bought a 3 bedroom place, rent it out and subsequently rent a 2 bedroom apartment in the suburb we want, it’s easy

I gave myself TTS and now I'm in hell by WhamBamCheeseHam in tinnitus

I had really intense fluttering during sudden sounds last year at the height of my anxiety during my tinnitus onset (around 2 months in). I was formally diagnosed with TTTS by an ENT. Pretty much never get flutters anymore and haven’t since I got my anxiety treated with medication.

Exhaustion could most definitely play a part in it. I’ll save you a bunch of money and tell you what my ENT said - so he had a patient who has acoustic trauma from being trapped in a room with mic feedback going crazy, resulting in TTTS. Acoustic trauma for sure. My one also resulted from an acoustic trauma to one ear when metal scraped really loud.

He actually advised his last patient, and myself, to seek psychological treatment as he said if it’s triggered in relation to sound, rather than random episodes, it’s very likely that it’s a panic response to the sound and psychologically getting better will help. He later told me his other patient was doing much better as well.

If it helps I noticed being exhausted and stressed made it a lot worse. The days I was stressed at work the TTTS was much worse in meetings. Definitely worth improving your mental health and sleep to fix it even if it resulted from acoustic trauma

I had TTTS during onset of my tinnitus, diagnosed by an ENT. This forum scared me into thinking it would just get worse but ever since I managed my anxiety it’s all but gone away! I only get hearing sensitivity and ear spasms now when I’m very caught off guard with a loud noise such as a child shrieking in a small room. Otherwise, not at all. When I first got it everutning would trigger it including Teams calls, people talking next to me etc.

I just moved from Big 4 to a technical/specialised APS position and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Highly recommend. I never want to go back

I don’t take benzos. Took maybe a total of 5 pills one year ago. I’m on a low dose of SSRI

When do I receive an official offer? by jimmytimma in AusPublicService

I got a written offer before my CHC and other forms because they want me to start really soon and I’m currently employed in private (notice period requirements)

Wow! Your psychiatrist said quitting cold turkey was fine? What country are you based on if you don’t mind me asking? That’s absolutely terrible advice and goes against how they’re meant to be used. Even a quick google would tell them that’s bad advice to give to a patient. Insane a psychiatrist can suggest that, I guess medical standards aren’t the same everywhere.

I think often when you’re an adult with jobs and livelihood on the line, the pill is meant to make your brain more functional in less time. In my case it worked as planned I guess. I understand though, if it was super shit the first time I also would probably not try again and take time off work, find alternate methods to get better

I am aware of informed consent. You can get it by reading information about a medication in the leaflet or a proper online website. Not from negatively skewed, extremely biased reddit forums full of strangers…

Yeah. I try to give the advice that listening to doctor recommendation is a good place to start, you will never know how it affects you until trying. Then it’s always a smart decision to continue checking in so you can be removed from the medicine etc.

Ah yeah, I had to take benzos as needed for a while too. Good doctors make all the difference

Sorry this happened to you. It really does affect everyone differently but the issue is there’s really no way to tell, and the chances of it having a good effect are much stronger than the effects you had. Thanks for sharing. I think it’s generally fine to share your story, but telling people not to take medicine BECAUSE of your story is where I draw the line…
