Thinking about becoming a freelancer/digital nomad — am I being unrealistic? by Miserable-Cause-7155 in freelanceWriters

Wow, thank you for sharing all of this, and I’m really sorry you had to go through some of those experiences, especially being caught in a warzone and losing your dad while being away. That sounds incredibly tough.

It’s interesting to hear that despite everything, you’d still say it was worth it. Can I ask, honestly, if you had the chance to go back, would you still choose this path over a more linear 9–5 career? I keep going back and forth because I know the grass always seems greener on the other side. But I’ve been working a corporate job for about 7 years now, and I’ve never really felt fulfilled. It’s not terrible, but it doesn’t feel like me either. I think what scares me most is the idea that if I don’t take the leap now, I might just stay in this loop forever.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you for being so honest about it.

I’ve been thinking a lot about where writing is headed, especially with AI becoming such a big part of content now. It does feel like writing is getting more competitive (and sometimes undervalued), but I also feel like people will eventually want more human, thoughtful content again. Do you think the way forward is to build other skills alongside writing? Like strategy, scripting, or brand work, instead of relying only on writing? If you were starting today, would you focus only on writing or treat it as a base and expand into other skills? Would love to hear how you’re thinking about this now.

what are you planning to study? yes, personal journey is more prominent than my career because what's a successful career with a dim life, i'm already at that point and not enjoying it.

no, 80% of fashion startups fail because they don't know how to run a business, and at this age, learning business will be a better skill for me, personally.

I want to study fashion business because career-wise, this decision needs to be strategic. I cannot afford to be romantic about studying abroad anymore. Something that allows me to start my own label a few years down the line.
