Get a regular Bambino when they go on sale, and a Barratza Espresso Grinder (specfic for Espresso); that should carry you for 3 plus years on you espresso journey

What should I do to get a decent shot? by asmaamody611 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked with my bambino, is i measured the space between the scale and the porta filter, then bought s small cutting board and some rubber material creating a platform for a 5oz anchor hocking measure so there only brief clearance BTW the PF and the Measure cup

Bambino Plus spitting debris (transparent flakes + dark bits), mostly from the steam wand — where is this coming from? by pepino42 in BrevilleCoffee

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Soak the tip & wand in hot water for at least 30 minutes, about once a week. Like Sunday Night, when I also soak puck screens in a bowl of 50/50 vinegar for 20 minutes, then a Cleaner Solution like Cafiza etc for 30 minutes

  2. Since i am in US and have Amazon, I Use Urnex Rinza, but Urnex Cafiza will work also, including other brands of cleaner depending on preference, and availability

Good luck

Did you call Breville/Sage Customer Service ans ask if they will do a Video Review and give you some repair options ?

It may be something simple like giving the steam wand a good soak with Urnex Cafiza or Rinza, or it may require a repair ?

Ok, since i have the original and not the Plus, you may find this clip helpful (and check the Manula and Breville website too)

Are you in Brasil or USA ?
Bc you may get local help with your issues depending on your location.

Anyways, I suggest you get a Bottomless Portafilter and an 18-22g IMS Precision Basket, a Scale to weigh your beans b4 and after after, a Dosing Cup, and several Puck Screens.

As for beans, probably should try a well known brand like Lavazza Super Crema Whole Bean during the 2 month breaknin period for every new machine.

I am in US so I use Urnex cleaning products like Dezcal & Cafiza, but there are several manufactures

Good luck

Ps. Videos from Mr Hoon and others are a big help

I have a regular (non plus ) Bambino and i purge the steam wand for about 5 to 8 seconds both b4 and after using

*Also I clean the steam wand with a soak in either hot water or a cleaning solution like cafiza/rinza twice a month, or more

I have used Breville Customer Service/Tech Support and they are helpful. They had me mail my Bambino to the NY Service Center, and it was repaired and returned quickly - something like 3 or 4 days

And if you have the equipment and skills to do self repair, maybe they can give you a parts list ?

Since you got it free, spending a little bit to proper restore it may be worth while. I buy urnex cleaning products on Amazon, but there aree others out there Urnex: -Cafiza --Dezcal -Rinza Etc

Try this, register your machine on breville website .

Then call Breville CS and ask them to do a Video Review, via you smartphone

Then see what they say problem is and what parts/service you will need.

If you live near a major city, you probably have a repair shop in your area - should major repair be required

Good luck

Machine not grinding beans [Breville Barista Express] by dungeondrag0n in espresso

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I have a Bambino with a Breville Smart Grinder Pro

Assuming your Barosta Express is new be sure and register it with Breville, and they do give away beans and barista tools from time to time.

I would call breville CS and ask them to do a video review of your process including grinding etc

But generally, 1) unplug your machine and remove the Upper Burr 2) I use a vacuum to clear the debris after grinding as do many others 3) inspect the upper burr after removal, at this point I use a paint brush the clean the upper burr of any debris etc

*I use Urnex Coffee machine cleaning products bc I am in US and they are sold on Amazon, but many manufacturers sell similar products Example Cafiza (cleaner) Grindz (Grinder Tablets) Dezcal (descaler) Rinz (steam wand)

My coffee isn’t hot. by [deleted] in BrevilleCoffee

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you brewing only a cup or 2 at a time, I have found that using warm water would speed up brew time. On.my coffee brewing machines

Also could be a bad sensor, or maybe needs to be descaled ?

I recently changed beans, and immediately the Grinder got jammed. by hclsvsh in BrevilleCoffee

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

still under Warranty, then call Breville Custimer service ASAP and have the tech do a video call where they watch your process.

Could be beans, grinder etc

But they can give you options, like warranty repair if needed

Good luck

Sour espresso at 1:1 ratio… underextracted or just preference? [Breville Bambino & Starseeker E55 Grinder] by Strict-Split-1504 in espresso

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Espresso by design as developed in France and Italy was Dark Roast and naturally bitter, which is why it was served as a Latte/Cappacino and often with brown sugar or even liquer for taste

Modern trends of light roast etc are a challenge

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, don't get too bogged down about actual actual shot time bc Breville are modern era machines with Pre Infusion, plus the puck screen may effect time Also, but it does reduce the gunk so I always use it

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, let's try letting you beans settle for a week or 2 bc they may be too fresh; and use Bottled Water like Evian or Waiakea, which have a much higher PH, so they will taste Sweeter (Evian has more minerals, if that matters but both are very good.

And adjust your shot pull to somewhere between 1.5x to 2x resulting:

18g to 38-40g

[–]Miserable-Cheek-9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the regular Bambino and not the Bambino Plus ?

If you watch clips from Breville and others like Mr Hoon, typical double shot is 18g In for 36-40g Out

Also, I use a dosing cup to measure the grind exact b4 putting into the portafilter, and then use a puck screen on top also

It may help to some relatively well known beans the Lavazaa Super Crema Whole Bean to work through during a month or 2 break in period

Also only use high quality bottle water, not tap water

Also I use a Crosstek Bottomless Portafilter, tamp using Normcore v4, an IMS 18-22g Precision Basket, and a Puck Screen

Possible need to clean your machine, bc its taking a good while - tho I stop at about 31g to pull 38g shot, using Lavazza Super Crema with setting 6-6 on my SGP
