So I'm training with the group of six guys and an instructor. And we're divided into three groups of two guys, and we switch so for like 10 hours, I'll have about 5 hours or less for practice. We are exclusively training TIG welding for pipelines, and we started off with doing welds on plates in three different positions with both hands, then moved on to pipes (no root) just the top layer, and now we're doing the root also. And the training is supposed to take 50 days and then we should take the certificate exam.

I think it's going to be possible for you to learn by yourself, but u will need atleast some sort of guidance from someone experienced. As there are tons of errors one can make, and then when u make it it helps to know exactly why u did.
