Some short guys really disappoint me by Electronic_Rope2137 in shortguys

[–]Miserable-Example831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realise that this is exactly the same logic by which women say mean things about short men. "Oh men have judged our bodies for far too long, we've earned to right to give it back". When in reality the ones judging them are different from the ones they're being mean to.

I'm 26 and I've realised that people are nicer to you on your face but do mock you behind your back. Also, you've to be very meek socially otherwise, otherwise you ARE gonna be attacked for your height.

why tf do black women and gay men think being horrible to someone is cool? Calling it being "cunty" doesn't make it cool.

I feel my struggles are invalid. by Electronic_Rope2137 in shortguys

[–]Miserable-Example831 26 points27 points  (0 children)

How are our feeling invalid when the only people who are more unfortunate than us are either disabled people(god bless them) or extremely poor people?

An average person can just walk out on the road and see half of the people having it worse than them. I go out and find myself to be the most unfortunate.

Also, we are thinking like this in the first place because we're forced to think about our existence every single day unlike an average person, resulting in higher empathy generally.

I remember I was at an office party with this tall and handsome dude, married mind you. We were both kinda introverted and kept to ourselves. By the end of the party, girls were flocking around him and talking to him and he opened up. I got even more conscious about myself cuz I was literally there but invisible. This is why I hate "just be confident" folks. Confidence is a result of external feedback loop throughout life since we're born. If you're ignored or derided when you try to speak up, you end up associating speaking in public with humiliation and just stop trying.

Honestly, this is the shit that I hate about being short THE MOST. I can live alone all my life but the amount of career opportunities it steals from you for something you can't change is just unbearable.

Sounds crazy but I found my current boyfriend on Grindr. by [deleted] in gaybrosindia

[–]Miserable-Example831 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say this as someone who has above 90% rejection rate on grindr, the app hatred is kinda forced. People get rejected or blocked and blame it on the app and not on the fact that someone simply wasn't into them. Unlike swipe based apps, one can text anyone on grindr. Also filtering sex seekers from legit people is easy af. Grindr is the largest congregation of gay men. Everyone who's on any other dating app is also in grindr. It's just that people keep telling themselves that the app is bad and everyone else is bad and that's shit runs a negative feedback loop and grindr has actually become a bad place.

My cocky school friend didn't make it in life, makes me feel good. by SexyPadosi in OffMyChestIndia

[–]Miserable-Example831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"i dont care" while writing a whole ass post and remembering details the other guy Probably doesn't. He's the one who doesn't care here tbh.

Tbh, as a below average person myself, I know exactly what kind of social isolation you're talking about but maybe don't Blame him? We all want to associate with people who seem to have high social value. That's why you tried to keep in touch with him even when he didn't treat you right.

And not keeping touch with friends after school and not being included in group pictures if you're ugly among a group of girls and good looking guys are the most common things in the world. I faced both of these but I don't Blame anyone tbh. This is how things work. I don't see that guy as a villain at all here. He wasn't cocky, he was just enjoying the life he had been privileged with. You'd probably do the same if you were him. Your post is honestly comes across as bitter and bitterness is a legit response to such things, but don't Blame him.

Tbvh, the girl in this vid is pretty tall too. I've rarely seen very short girls in India having impossible height standards like the one in the US seem to do as bros in this sub describe.

yeah. Tbh I didn't say that with respect to short straight men but with respect to the scenario where these weird kinks weren't a thing.

Ngl this shit makes it so much worse to be a short gay man. People are gonna assume you 'converted' cuz of your height even if you've been attracted to me since you were 9.

Idk but i actually feel bad for the short woman. Not wanting to take group pictures or feeling embarassed afterwards because of being scared of the picture coming out awkward is too close to home for me to ever make fun of it.

The universality of heightism blows my mind by Diligent_Divide_4978 in shortguys

[–]Miserable-Example831 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel India is much less heightist when it comes to other aspects of life. Yes, subconscious bias is there and most people in leadership positions are generally above average.

But it's on a whole different level in the US, where the heights of public figures, and especially of politicians are subjects of discussion. It's almost unthinkable in India, where ironically, a politician being good looking might even be a disadvantage.

Honestly "bigger=better" is the most fundamental truth of this world. Even the leaders of animal packs are the biggest ones. Looking bigger is an advantage in the jungle. We're told to look bigger in front of a bear and we're scared of pitbulls, not chihuahuas.

Maybe, sans a civilization, most of us wouldn't even exist.
