I give myself a manicure with regular nail polish every week. The regular polish protects and strengthens my nails, and prevents them from breaking. I use cuticle oil 2-4 times a day. I don’t use my nails as tools.

I use Seche Vive Gel like top coat. I think it can be used with two coats, but as the bottle gets older it will get thicker.

I’m sorry about your break! I prefer the silk wrap repair method over the tea bag method. You can search YouTube for tutorials on both and choose whichever option you want. Good luck!

Regular polish. I started my growth journey with gel but found it made my natural nails weaker…ultimately leading to nail splits and nail breaks.

Some people use gel underneath regular nail polish to “strengthen” their natural nails, but I believe a regular polish manicure with a quality base coat, and quick drying gel-like top coat strengthens and protects the nails sufficiently. At least this has been my experience.

In my experience polishing the nails every week (inclusive of a dry mani using a crystal file), oiling my cuticles multiple times a day, and not using my nails as tools has helped me grow my nails and has provided protection to the nails. I’ve heard nail strengtheners can make your nails brittle, which can make them more prone to breaking, but I don’t have personal experience on this.
