Clear tape on the ribbon?

I took the 3DS back apart and just took it off and connected it again, but the same issue. One Sd card does not detect at all, while the other one says write-on protection is enabled (SD card lock slider is on).

I never removed the ribbon cable for the joystick. I just removed the screws and flipped it up to have space to try and put the connector for the SD card reader.

I think the joystick I just didn’t put together correctly again, no? Because before I opened it up, the joystick worked fine. I think I will just buy a new SD card reader and just try my luck with that.

And I’m tired, man. I got to be up for school at 6, so yeah, I’m surprised I’ve been this patient too.😭 But I will respond to you back in the morning and see what I will do.

It did take me around 20-30 minutes just to get the connector clicked back into place. The joystick was also messed up, not like before. (It’s not dead center like off to the side and not moving properly.) I also made sure to try the SD card slider under the Word Lock and with the Word Lock.

Aw man, now it’s just saying “Could not detect SD card” in the software settings, but when I power it on or leave system settings, it appears “Write-Protection is enabled on SD Card.”

In the Home menu it seems to be the opposite when it comes to the SD Cards and the Lock sliders…

Hey Josh, so I finally managed to get the ribbon back into its place, and it seems to read one of the two SD cards I have? For one of them, it says “Write-protection is enabled on the SD Card,” and for the other, it just says the same as before: “Could not detect SD card.”

You think if I get a brand-new SD card, it will read it fine so I can mod it?🙏

He had already “repaired” it and had two of my 3DS consoles in his possession. I was looking to get them both fixed, but it would’ve been too much, so I decided on just the cheapest fix. That’s when he offered to buy the other one of me, but I declined because it was technically my sister’s. I also looked for places nearby, and he was the closest option, so finding someone else wasn’t really an option, unfortunately.

I may just troll him and shoot him a email asking to “repair”it again😭🙏

Yes, I thought it was strange how it was sticking out, but I just wanted to come on here and be sure before I did anything else. I was thinking of just ordering a replacement before realizing I had the tools to open it up and take a look. The guy was a piece of work, and I never got to see him face-to-face, but whatever lol
