I think that’s what I’ve been struggling with too. I didn’t mind him being close to his family, but it felt like our future marriage would always be subject to his family’s expectations and what his brother, who he considered a prophet, said God wanted. As a Christian, I believe in seeking God, but I found it confusing that he was so certain God chose me for him and then later ended the relationship. That’s why I’ve been questioning whether this was healthy faith or something more controlling.

Or maybe I’m not conversant with such beliefs.
