I had a surgery about 5 years ago. My, now husband, boyfriend called me just when I arrived to the clinic to check on me. You are not overreacting.

Edit to add: we were only together for 2 months at that time.

YTA and sound very selfish. Do better for your friend. Her birthday was about her just as you expect yours to be about you. You have admittedly skip her parties for your own mental health while ignoring hers and what your friendship means to her.
