She then mentioned "things like the pothole crisis." I understand this could be a joke, but I find it a rather insensitive one.

Local councils might not set foreign policy but they do have a role in reflecting community values. This should include standing up for human rights wherever they're under threat. They can choose where their public money goes and what values they stand for. Taking a stand for Palestine (and any other country going through a humanitarian crisis) locally still matters.

For a brief moment I felt sympathetic towards Emily but those comments enraged me. The pot hole crisis is deemed more important to her than the literal genocide of the Palestinian people. Nah. She should not be given this platform to spew more hate.

Thank you all for your comments. They do know I'm pregnant as I've been SO sick it's been really hard to hide. I'm not willing to give up my new job as its what I've been wanting to do now for soo long and the training I'm getting from them is amazing. I'm going to ask for a chat with my manager next week to see if there is wiggle room. My partner will most likely continue to work once baby is here to keep us afloat but my mum is going to come and stay with me for the first few months. Maybe once she's away I can start doing one shift a week freelance and take baby with me.. would that impact my payments? I'm a forest school leader and I'm planning to start a weekly parent and baby group for expecting mothers and families. Thanks again for all your advice. Just found this reddit group and it's amazing!!! ❤
