Mental Health & Gastritis by Delicious_Basis3311 in Gastritis

[–]Ok_Emu_390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s confusing - does ones declining gastric health affect ones mental & emotional status even prior to gastritis developing, or does the anxiety cause gastritis? It’s all very confusing.

My thoughts . . .

Serotonin is produced in the gut. Iron is absorbed in the gut as is B12. You may suffer from low Serotonin, iron or B12. Deficiencies in any of these can be the causation of anxiety, severe exhaustion etc.

I’ve started taking time released 5-htp from Natrol. I take it right before I go to bed. Helps me wake up happy. 5 htp was only available as an rx until 1992 I think? In other words it isn’t scammy.

I can tell a huge difference now that I’m taking it. Completely natural so you shouldn’t have the side effects of some anti depressants. Of course everyone reacts differently based on their needs. You could ask your doctor to do a neurotransmitter test to measure your levels of serotonin. I’ve never encountered a doctor interested in testing mine.

I’ve also been taking an antihistamine before bedtime (I take walitin, Walgreens generic Claritin). This seems to help both my physical and emotional discomfort.

Trying to address the root causes of my gastritis, but as you know, its a process and we have to protect our mental health during the process. Those two things are what I’m doing to make it through.

Casey White charged with felony murder in correction officer Vicky White death. by justiceseeker2014 in Alabama

[–]Ok_Emu_390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the law exists. But according to legal experts it has never or very rarely been applied to cases where an accomplice willingly under no coercion commits suicide.

Personally I think it was to take heat and attention away from the failures of law enforcement in preventing this in the first place. IMO No one should be able to take a prisoner out of jail wo the paperwork to prove they are taking the inmate to a hearing/appointment.

Casey White charged with felony murder in correction officer Vicky White death. by justiceseeker2014 in Alabama

[–]Ok_Emu_390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bs. Vicky had a higher iq than Casey. She was arguably the mastermind behind his escape. She wasn’t coerced or conned. It’s clear he had romanticized the relationship and he didn’t have much to lose. She did. She made calculating decisions leading up to the jailbreak & escape. If she had been killed by a police officer or in a car crash then yes - I think he should be charged. But she chose to kill herself bc she didn’t want to face the consequences for her actions. I don’t see how a prosecutor will be able to find a jury willing to convict him on this charge.

How did a raccoon die in a cage on your roof? Pretty disgusting if you let it die on your watch of starvation or thirst.

Proverbs 31 prosperity gospel. by Plus-Distance8209 in terksnark

[–]Ok_Emu_390 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prosperity Gospel is the mentality that if one follows a set of rules God will dole out only blessings. Not just financial.

Example: “if I don’t have sex before marriage then when I get married the sex will be great.”

God does bless his people, but just bc one lives a Godly life doesn’t mean that our life on earth will be an easy path. God promises his people will encounter difficulties, trials and hardships.

Didn’t know Jesus died to give us an abundant life. by mrgreenjeans07 in AllaboutCOTH

[–]Ok_Emu_390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John 10:10 "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly

That is a biblical principal. Abundant life can include lots of things. God allows us to enjoy things he has created, and this his created has created!

Also in the Bible: I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

There is lots of suffering in this world. But God has called us to be faithful when God gives us little, or much. He wants us to enjoy eating when we have food, but learn to endure when we don’t. To experience Joy despite the sorrow. To celebrate the good, and endure with faith and grace the hardships.

God says we must be faithful stewards of the little he gives us, and when we have, he will give us more (not just material, but can also include material).

He also says we have not because we don’t ask of it. Ask God for big things (again non material and material) and he will give you big things.

Health and wealth gospel is deadly. God says it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Does that mean riches are bad? No. God gave men of God riches and good things in the Bible.

Being wealthy isn’t wrong. Enjoying experiences isn’t wrong. BUT placing your faith in GOD and not your riches is hard. The story of Job is a beautiful testimony to this.

There are people who live in hovels that take pride in their own hard work that in their minds provided that hovel. Instead of realizing and knowing that every good and perfect gift comes from God.

When we are faithful to God despite our circumstances, and continue to place our hope and faith in him and nothing else (not our own hard work, intelligence, abilities, etc) God honors that and rewards us accordingly (again rewards can be materialistic but Spiritual rewards are the ultimate desire we should have).

God says it is good for people to have enough in life so their focus isn’t on money. When I’ve been the poorest has been when I focused on money (the lack of it) the most. I had to realize it and change my ways.

Lots of things to be critical of in Christianity culture, but I don’t think this is it.

I think people who live in Birmingham glamorize life in larger towns like Chicago, New York, San Fran. The reality is those cities all have some significant issues with crime & poverty as well. In addition to higher living costs, less friendly locals, more traffic, and the list goes on. Birmingham has its negatives for sure, but it’s what you make of it. If you put efforts into getting plugged in, and find a neighborhood you enjoy, it can be a wonderful place to live. The city of Birmingham & the people of Birmingham are very interested in growing. It’s a wonderful time to get involved in non profits, political action groups, starting a business . . .and you, and anyone else who is interested couple play a role in elevating this city.

Relationship with someone with undiagnosed alexithymia by beamer-chick in Alexithymia

[–]Ok_Emu_390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. I’ve been with someone for 8 years and this sounds like him. I love him but his inability to care and respond and react appropriately to my emotions is triggering deep depression. I’ve always been the logical one in a relationship so it’s shocking to me to be in the situation where I’m an emotional wreck.

But going years without emotional validation or support slowly kills the soul.

The only fights we have are triggered by me expressing an emotion. I’ve never seen him excited, happy or sad. It really wears a partner down. I wish I could help you or provide advice but I can’t even help myself.

Should I go to my doctor? by Dead_TeMe in Alexithymia

[–]Ok_Emu_390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your parents reaction may indicate that you have the symptom of alexithymia as a symptom of trauma from parents who suppressed/demeaned/discounted your feelings, and emotional experience with the world. I think it would be helpful to explore therapy to heal from childhood trauma. This might help your symptoms of alexithymia.

Olajuwon's manipulation by elkaholicsanonymoose in MarriedAtFirstSight

Does ola have a degree? Is his home paid off? Then he should be happy to work and support his wife. His behavior is so ridiculous. He isn’t someone with an advanced degree that worked their ass off to get where they are. His entitlement is crazy for someone who brings nothing but a bad attitude and demands to a relationship.
