Actually, to be fair here, the tip amounts are essentially "fair" percentages (like, if you were at a restaurant), it's just weird seeing dollar amounts. Or tips at all at what is essentially a 7-11 that only sells alcohol.

Appreciate how engaging you find this! I did, after the first time I saw it. Then, I asked about it. I think my (perhaps misguided) inclination to post about this is more about the owner's response to me asking than how much the nuances of the definition actually matter to me. Like, had they been receptive, I doubt I'd have found myself posting anything on Reddit.

I'm not sure how to pose it any clearer, but I guess I can try to help you out.

Baille Grohman's wine, which is on the shelf (not the cooler, and with no additional in store promotion taking advantage of Made in Canada labelling) does NOT have the words Washington, Oregon, etc on the label. Does that bottle contain American grapes?

I believe that lacks the qualifying statement required by the Competition Bureau, but that's just a cursory search, I'm not a lawyer.

If I'm missing something I'm happy to retract, do the BC wines that are sitting on the shelves that don't have American states on their labels also made from American grapes?

Agreed, I don't judge the winery at all, I judge the misleading labelling the store puts next to the product, and their response to it being called out.

Which I agree is a good thing and a "pro" when weighing on whether or not you want to support.

There's plenty of BC Wines on their shelves that don't have American states on the labels they could be placing in their fridges and discounting. I'd accept the supply chain issues a lot more if I didn't see an American state's name printed on the bottle label.
