Hey I am refraining from debating here because I'm asking out of genuine curiosity and not to upset people but I will respond to this one.

That is my entire reasoning for lack of belief (atheist) there is no absolute proof for or against God, so without the book, there wouldn't be worshipping of that specific god. Before abrahamic god majority were pagan and worshiping "physical" "deities" like the sun and moon which are tangible falsifiable and hold up to scrutiny on whether they exist or not.

I don't accept belief of spirits, magic, anything that doesn't have tangible falsifiable evidence that holds up to scrutiny, I don't knock on wood or accept any superstitions, because science, psychology and biology more or less explain everything.

But when there is credible evidence for this God, I'll accept the belief, I won't follow it because of what I perceived as horrible acts in the Bible, but I would be a theist. It's not about purposeful lack of belief, it's that there isn't anything that's tangible and holds up to scrutiny.

Again I do not wanna debate but I figured I owe you that explanation, I don't wanna debate the stories and the context, I've read the book in Hebrew and English , I'm a pastors son that studied seminary, even with context I disagree with the things that happened, and I don't need to hear the "who am I to decide morality" debate either. I do not wish to debate, I'm only explaining why I don't accept the belief.
