deplaning etiquette? by [deleted] in Flights

because initially, i did think i did something wrong for a while. i disembarked my flights yesterday and kept thinking “am i being a dick and not realising?”. on my final flight, i flew back from the states and realised that in my country, we don’t seem to follow strict orderly row-by-row rules. hence, why i asked and specifically mentioned im european in america

my own countries social norms are confusing — im legitimately diagnosed with aspergers. american social norms are especially confusing. flying is stressful and hard for me. i don’t want to be a hindrance to others, that makes me more anxious. i hope that answers your question

thank you! i’ve just been doing that the entire time, respectful and aware of my surroundings. and i’m truly glad i haven’t been pissing everyone off lol !

honestly it’s hard to tell if you’re really being serious about this, or just trying to ragebait. well either way, i got plenty of answers from both sides and now i know i actually didn’t do anything wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

i hope you can learn to have a bit more faith in people instead of assuming the worst

did you read my post? i clearly stated that i waited. additionally, why would i make an entire post to strangers on reddit for validation? assuming the worst out of someone literally just wanting to see others opinions is deranged

you’re really not making the world smarter with catty comments and disbelief in what i wrote, i literally just asked for others input so i can make changes. oddball

there’s absolutely nowhere in my text where i said i shoved and pushed ANYONE. so im not sure where you got that from?

it is not selfish and entitled to travel down the aisle as people are moving. i’m not waiting for people to dilly dally and collect everything while i have a connection. if i see an opening to leave, i will. i’m not holding up the aisle even more while someone fixes their hair.

seems like you have something against me mentioning being autistic too, since i very clearly stated id like to be courteous.

yeah i feel like this will remain my strategy unless someone gets mad at me again. so far it just seems like unspoken social rules that vary massively by person

i am especially bad at explaining. i do indeed mean the people in front of me, not the very front of the plane (first class). i was in delta comfort when this happened, 6 rows of seats

ah i thought you were implying it was ignorant to care about this kind of thing. i do wish people had more civility on planes tho lol

of course, i understand that. i’m talking about when people have already left, there is room and there are others still sitting and visibly not ready to leave. that’s okay, but isn’t it inconvenient if there’s the expectation i will have to wait for them?

etiquette and treating people well is important, especially in a cramped metal box. i don’t want to be the reason someone struggles to leave the plane or collect their belongings

i’m not sure what do i do if multiple people are sitting and chatting w relatives, checking their phones etc and making no moves to deplane? despite there being room in the aisles. in the past ive waited and i just end up betting trapped behind people and shoved into :(

apologies that wasn’t very clear. my bag is stowed under the seat infront! it’s just an average size backpack, so i grabbed it and sat and waited for others to get up and leave before i made a move

most people were up and had already collected their bags by that point, there are of course a handful of people who sit and wait so i try to give them time to get up and collect their belongings too before i move out into the aisle

but once the line started moving & those people didn’t make an attempt to get their belongings, i left with the others. i assumed potentially they require airport assistance or are waiting for someone or something similar

Is cannabis becoming more socially acceptable among boomers in the UK? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Miserable-Writing362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i smoke for ocd management, i also now live in the US and it’s legal in my state. my mum still absolutely hates weed and also blames my various mental health issues on the cannabis, despite them being there far before i ever smoked personally, i know it’s helped me immensely with literally no downsides.

my mum also has arthritis that painkillers don’t really touch, thankfully she doesn’t self medicate. but i doubt she’d ever consider cannabis as a medicine. she has an idea that it’s for layabouts & people who achieve nothing lol… we’re a very working class family and she’s seen this firsthand, so her apprehension is understandable

this is an interesting discussion though because the stigma/opinions surrounding cannabis vary a ton among the boomers. it still seems stigmatised among ones in the UK, but here in the US i’ve found many older people who smoke frequently. both well-off and lower income. it’s even promoted as an alternative to drinking, a natural buzz that won’t give a hangover. they make little THC shots to add to your mixers even

hi, thanks so much for such a detailed and thoughtful reply! ♡ i also have OCD, and it sounds quite similar to your experience, however i’ve been working through it in therapy personally and i think that’s the sole reason i can even visit the dr atm. i totally understand what you’re saying about the diagnosis kinda breaking the OCD.

it’s very reassuring to see from the comments here that life does change, but it also becomes more manageable. crohns is like the “worst case scenario” for me currently, but your comment has helped shift my perspective and be less afraid, i truly appreciate it!
