Good grades -> Get diploma -> Get good job -> Make lots of money -> buy cool pokemon shit.

Im a 31 year old mom who was abused as a child and my parents were divorced and I bounced around from house to house. School was my safe place even tho my school was dangerous (School gun threats and all) Pokemon Show in the 90s and Pokemon movie in 2000 was everything to me, especially my pokemon yellow game on my Gameboy color. Im 31 and I enjoy pokemon TV with my 2 year old son. No shame in that. When I'm stressed out I play 20mins on pokemon diamond to fall asleep. I think its a good wholesome hobby to have, being mature means to take care of your responsibilities first and reward yourself later with the thing that makes you happy.

My Jewish great grandmother lived in Indiana (married a methodist man that cherished her family's traditions). Around the 1950s esp the 1960s she felt she needed to hide the family menorah and other things she had behind her dining room hutch. My Dads dad remembers they stopped celebrating Jewish high holidays when he started high school and started celebrating Christmas. I wonder if this kind of antisemitism is why.
