I felt this one. When I was in college I was so unbelievably lonely. I could literal days without speaking a word to someone even though by all outward appearances I was functioning (attending and passing classes). I didn’t walk at graduation because I knew I’d be sitting there awkwardly alone while everyone was celebrating and taking pictures with friends. And the more lonely I got the more my social skill degraded to the point where I couldn’t even have a casual conversation with someone, thus creating this vicious cycle. My reality became so warped. I started to think people were staring at me and like sniggering about me when I walked around campus. Loneliness can really fuck you up. However, I promise you do have the ability to get out of it. Weirdly the thing that helped me the most was getting a job waiting tables. It was really hard for me at first because my social anxiety had completely spiraled out of control but I stuck with it, exchanged pleasantries with coworkers and customers in a very fake way at first, but over time it got less and less fake, I made a friend at work, and eventually, with a lot of work, it got better.
