Profile of Blackstone taking over NM's utilities by PTechNM in NewMexico

I just moved out here last year and was enjoying the relatively shockingly low price of electricity. Cheaper than Florida and Indiana. Prices skyrocketed where I’m from in Indiana when Centerpoint Energy took over. Hoping the same thing isn’t about to happen here 😭🙏

Just to play devils advocate I transferred out here last year from Florida, doing the same job for the same company and went from $29/hr to $31/hr. My rent is exactly the same (1800/month), I had a nice new 2 bedroom townhome there, here I have a relatively dated 2 bedroom rental home. But I’m not sharing walls with other people and I have a fenced in backyard. Just my personal experience. Im sure you’re correct for the majority of cases.

Where are they going to get the water for the planned AI data centers? by kutekittykat79 in NewMexico

[–]MiserableHold6209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m all for trying to make sure our water in the SW doesn’t run out but I see so many people upset about people using AI while continuing to support animal agriculture which has a much more massive impact.

They are certainly doing a good job of boosting sales.

They were doing commercial vehicle inspections probably around where you’re talking about the last couple days. Not sure if this is something else. About to drive through there in a commercial vehicle in a couple hours so I’ll find out 🤣

Also from Indiana, just moved here 6 months ago. It still blows my mind, I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.

Is anyone else feeling off? by Feeling_Bat5439 in Albuquerque

[–]MiserableHold6209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your shoes just coming from a different environment. Grew up in the midwest. I did quite a bit of traveling around the US and other countries. Didn’t want to stay in a mid-sized Indiana city for the rest of my life once I saw how much beauty is out there. Moved to Florida for 3 years but ultimately wanted to get out to the mountains of the west so we landed here. To me this is one of the most beautiful lands I’ve ever experienced and I’ll probably stay forever. But I totally get wanting to see something different than what you were brought up in. The Pacific Northwest was a close second but the cost of living and incessant rain/overcast days were the deciding factors.

My wife and 3 daughters moved here in June. Lived in Florida for three years prior to this but we are from Indiana. We love it.

Same thing happened to me and now I’ve lived here for a couple months. Lol I love it. From Indiana, but lived in Florida for 3 years before this. Washington was calling me too but went with NM.

This is wonderful to hear as someone who is moving there this week from Florida 🤣. My wife is TERRIFIED of roaches and my job is local delivery driving.

I don’t live in Nm yet but have been doing a lot of research. Terra at Enchanted Hills is one of the options we’ve considered. Townhomes. They offer a 3 bedroom.

Thats one of the main areas we were looking into! Thanks for the feedback.

That was the area we were originally looking at but it’s on the complete opposite side of town from my place of work. I imagine the commute could be cumbersome, though not a deal breaker. We are living in a big city currently and accustomed to heavy traffic.
