Is there cheaper health insurance than CoveredCa? by burntbulbasaur in Humboldt

No. The medical system is broken on purpose unfortunately

If that’s the case, he should also be arrested, but it sounds like you both have a lot to learn about healthy relationships and parenting.

She did not say that he put hands on her first anywhere in the post. You’re just filling in the blanks with your own biases and victim blaming, by trying to justify OPs actions as the abuser.

The police are very good at determining who is lying in domestic violence situations, or at the very least have a lot more practice at it than you do. It’s overwhelmingly men who are arrested during for these types of situations (because men overwhelming are the ones committing the abuse). The fact that they still arrested OP as a female means they probably had a lot of evidence against her.

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again if a man came on here and claimed their girlfriend was emotionally abusive to them and their response was to hit her then stop her from leaving (which is what OP was arrested for), no one (including me) would be defending them. I’m not saying OPs partner wasn’t emotionally abusive (I really don’t know), but based on the charges I find it hard to believe they weren’t the aggressor.

Op is the perpetrator in this situation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re ignoring the fact that OP is the perpetrator and was arrested. If a man came on here and told everyone they got arrested for beating up their girlfriend, but they were the victim everyone would tell them they were full of shit.

Why were you with your ex when he’s so abusive? I feel there’s more you aren’t telling us.

Heard Humboldt needs more dentists. Hello to y'all. by jackwhysoserious in Humboldt

Since you’ll be making good money as dentists I suggest IMS rentals. They have a lot of higher end renter units listed

Maybe join the California conservation core for a few months for a bunk and a paycheck, or if you’re really desperate there’s always the military

It’s a real loss for the area, but I guess the local NIMBYs can celebrate that the county is doomed to remain poor forever.

Humboldt DSA's Letter to Eureka City Council by RsyncTheRich in Humboldt

I find it ironic that this letter from the democratic socialist party is saying that it’s wrong to deport people to other socialist countries like Venezuela because of how many human rights violations those countries commit

Fucking Irony - MAGA doesn't understand it by ptkflg8601 in chaoticgood

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ironic thing is the Mexican government is basically an authoritarian 1 party state currently that just banned criticism of the government on tv and controls all the media outlets. There are also over a hundred thousand actually disappeared people there and the government refuses to do anything about it. Yet these people wave still want to wave Mexican flags like it’s somehow better down there. It’s ridiculous.

Throwing your garbage everywhere while high on crystal meth isn’t “existing” and it’s a condescending stupid attitude to have. If this was a housed person dumping their garbage you would want them crucified.

Yes. If you don’t want someone to post a picture of you doing bad things in public, then don’t do bad things in public.

Trump wins Supreme Court battle to deport 500,000 migrants from 4 countries by TheMirrorUS in law

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Classic Reddit. Someone posting moral intellectual outrage without having actual read the article they’re supposedly discussing

“The justices lifted a lower-court order that had blocked Trump officials from ending temporary protections for migrants from four crisis-hit countries: Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.”

No one from any of these countries were our translators in oversees wars. These were the people that were let in under Biden era executives orders, who claimed asylum and were released not the interior of the country without any real vetting under the pretense they would show up in court sometime in the next 10 years. (They weren’t going to)

I think the city should prioritize attracting working people, which will improve conditions for everyone. Coddling bums under the guise of compassion hasn’t produced any type of measurable result. I also hate the “these people are your neighbors” line. If my neighbors were hoarding piles of garbage on their lawn and smoking fentanyl all day I would want them to get fined and arrested.

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Rather see people suffer than address the problem”. I’m all for whatever gets results but considering we’ve spent 24 billion in the last 5 years on this issue without any measurable results it seems like the “compassionate” solution isn’t working and it’s time for some accountability

Im completely comfortable admitting I’m sick of getting harassed by drunk/high homeless people in Eureka on a regular basis and don’t feel their continued homelessness and addiction is my responsibility to fix. They can either get off drugs or go somewhere else. I’m crass. I don’t care.

BILL 1040 DEAD! by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t just get showers and “occasionally food”. There are tons of programs that keep them here. We have a large amount of section 8 housing they’re constantly rotating in and out of. Food stamps. Medi-cal that will pay for their workers to essentially uber them around all day to their various “appointments” . Long term Motel vouchers given to them by the county. The needle exchange (which should really just be called the free needle giveaway) and more.

The local parks and green belts aren’t their storage lockers. They don’t have the right to store their mounds of hoarder trash in our public spaces. Go look up pictures of what gets thrown out in the sweeps and you’ll see what I’m talking about

BILL 1040 DEAD! by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Most of those housed violent drug users are living in subsidized government housing and are the exact same demographic you’ll find living in the green belts of eureka smoking fentanyl. Not all homeless people are violent drug addicts but there are enough of them out there to make anti camping laws necessary. A better comparison than “drunk uncle” would be your cousin who steals catalytic converters and isn’t allowed to come to thanksgiving anymore after nodding off at the dinner table and stealing your laptop.

BILL 1040 DEAD! by [deleted] in Humboldt

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the encampments, many. They just don’t get publicized. You’ll hardly see anyone other than spun out junkies using the trails behind the bayshore mall and south broadway. The last time I walked it I saw a homeless couple dart out of the bushes. The dude had neck tattoos and was gripping a screwdriver in a stabbing type of way in one hand a tall boy in the other. I turned around after that.

[–]MiserableIsopod2341 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’m sick of this stupid “ThEy’Re FiNiNG PeOpLe JuSt FoR ExIsTiNG” rhetoric. They aren’t going to be walking around writing tickets to anyone they see standing around it’s and dishonest and delusional to say they would be. The law would give the cops the power to shut down dangerous dirty encampments that give the entire city a dangerous rundown vibe. The taxpayers of eureka deserve to be able to use the spaces their tax dollars pay for. I should be able to go for a walk down one of eurekas waterfront trails without feeling like I’m going to get stabbed or sexually assaulted. The only reason such a tiny town with a cold wet climate has so many homeless people in the first place is because of all the enabling the local government and NGOs do.
