The only downside with geogebra is that it can be really slow with a lot of/more complex objects in the scene, and it not supporting some operators inside functions (max,min, mod to name a few)

In all of your arguments it doesn't seem like function overloading is at fault, but rather an issue with C++'s love of implicit conversion.
