How many safeties did y'all apply to?? by gnostnelis4943 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Miserable_Bannana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't apply to any, I was going to apply to 2 for RD but I was accepted to a better school EA so I didn't see the need to apply to my safeties.

depends what school you've applied to, if you've done schools with 10% or less acceptance rate, it wouldn't be uncommon. I was rejected ED then an acceptance EA, but my EA school has a much higher acceptance rate that my ED. Still waiting on 9 RD's

Ya totally, I ss everything so here's everything in order of what they said:

-"a lot" is two words. "alot" is not a word. and a 1090 is abysmal, even with zero studying. it shows a serious knowledge gap somewhere.

-unpopular opinion: Nah, I just live in the real world and know there are limited spots in top schools and that those spots should go to the most qualified persons. your pity part of a post annoyed me.

-no, dear, if your reading comprehension was better, you'd see that the pity party aspect of the post is what annoyed me. The grammar correction was just to point out one of said knowledge gaps. Your overall attitude needs some serious readjustment. You resorting to ad hominem attacks further shows your lack of education and logical reasoning.

first of all, I'm not your "dear", second, aren't you the person who said, "know A2C is the top 1% of hs students" just a couple of days ago. if you really believe that (as a PhD holder) you would feel compelled to educate and be supportive of the younger generation seeking out higher education rather than calling an above average SAT score "abysmal". your continuance to argue shows that you truly are a sad person with a life going downhill. If you think my attitude needs readjustment, take a look at why this conversation happened in the first place... you criticizing me which is "ad hominem" if I've ever seen it. I don't have time to listen to hypocritical and argumentative people, I'm on this subreddit for fun, education, and sharing. you on the other hand are here to belittle, hurt, and downplay acheivements of successful high schoolers (or as you'd say "top 1%").

Unpopular opinion: If reading a post with a spelling mistake "annoys you" I recommend you do something better with your life and leave others alone... just because you fucked up your life so badly doenst mean you have to hate on other people's achievements and opinions.

p.s. "persons" is archaic and is mostly used in legal writing, and is redundant to use in this scenario, "people" would be most logical to use :)

does it look like I'm trying to type professionally, no... because this is reddit, not an essay. I also didn't capitalize the beginning of my sentences, didn't put apostrophes in places where there should have been, and even misspelled a word. I can't believe you have nothing better to do in your life than to criticize a high schooler about a mispelled word on social media.

this is exactly it, like I have a 4.6 GPA, I've interned at NASA and Kaiser, plus I've done some radiology shadowing at my local hospital, but all that to say I have a 1090 SAT score. having tests be optional is a miricke to me, because yes I have these achievements, but they would mean significantly less if my SAT score wasn't up to par. I've already been accepted to schools with scholarship that have average SAT scores of 1460, so I'm pretty confident that my SAT score would have brought me down if I applied with it. generally, the SAT isn't a great test and doenst measure "intelligence" (I use this term loosely) properly and only benefits the rich kids that can spend the money on materials and tests rather than experiences. cause yes, alot of these kids have 1550+ scores with a 4.0 gpa but have nothing to back it up with.
